    Umm...

Posted on Jan 06, 2010 at 1:50 PM

It's all a bit tooo colourful for me...

I don't really understand why there is a portal (the circle) showing nothing but a rotating background.

From a designers point of view, it's fairly elaborate and maybe a little too over the top. Also the illustration, is really basic not what I would expect after looking your portfolio.

Also, you categorised your portfolio, but hen you click next the categorisation doesn't necessarily work, and there are no links to go back to those categories.

From a consumer / marketers point of view, if I came across this site I would probably steer away, unless I was a greeny.

I think it could work alot better, if there was less vibant colours, I realize that this may not work for your personnality after reading your profile on your site, but it will definitely work towards getting some serious work.

The background in the spinning portal should slow down, and show some of your most important work, so that the user can click on it and it opens your portfolio page.

I would also like to see a little bit less repetition and a bit more interactivity.

    Good Luck!

Yikes. That's the most negative feedback I've ever gotten... Thanks, I guess.

      Hey Billie...

Sorry if that has upset you, I was trying to point out what needs to be changed, and may of gotten carried away.

I hope you'll read through it and take out the parts that may help you..

      :)

    WOW, Very colorful

I'm not sure the web is ready for this. I know you are trying to be very different, but this is just a bit much and in your face. Unfortunately, I think I would start over on this one. I'm not trying to be mean here, just want to give you honest feedback.

    Everything

Sorry man to say this but this one of those cases where you just need to go back to the drawing board. Way too many colors and things grabbing for my attention. The navigation of the site is tricky, and I don't just mean the top menu but the way you have to client from client to client in the portfolio is kind of hard to find. I like your logo and think that if you started over with a MUCH simpler design and color scheme you could come up with something good. Keep in mind that neutrals, blacks, grays and whites, with pops of bright colors can still be just a fun and crazy as this is, IF it's done properly.

It is very difficult to look at

Posted on Jan 06, 2010 at 7:26 PM

I see that you've put a lot of work into this site, but it's difficult to get to the content when the colors are so vibrant they are hurting your eyes.

You have a lot of good here. I think you need to tone down the content areas. Especially when featuring your portfolio.

Perhaps try a modal window for the pop up with the blue frame, but a soft color background. The modal will allow you to darken out the vibrant main page colors so the user can focus on content.

Here is an article about Modal windows. There are many free scripts available too...

    Hope that helps!

    pattern in the background

I'm ALL about bright colors. But I think its a little busy here. Maybe ditch the stars and moons to simplify it. If you want to stick to your guns and keep the design to represent you, then cool. But I would consider adjusted the backgroun if nothing else.

Honestly... I just don't get it. Everybody was praising this concept when I first introduced it but then I added a few more elements and suddenly it's being trampled all over. I do kind of agree with you though, the stars and moons, etc. are a little over the top. Thanks for the feedback!

I love the colors, style and ultimate appeal of looking at your site. Especially with the Flash dynamics. And I, usually, despise Flash.

Big corporations wont admire the aforementioned traits. But considering that's not your target market, than this is just too beautiful, to not engage the public with.

Non-profits will very likely eat this up.

    Keep it!

    Who are your clients?

Posted on Jan 06, 2010 at 3:46 PM

It is hard to gage who you are trying to sell your services to. If you are doing a lot of work for businesses/non-profits that focus on kids or new age illustration then i think it could work... otherwise i think you may be in trouble as I think this would only attract a very small niche...

there is a lot going on... if your goal is to showcase your portfolio you are not building a good foundation for people to focus on your work - they will be distracted by all superfluous shapes and colors...

i'd consider rethinking your visual message

Contrary to other comments, I quite like the functionality of this website when you open it. Some people may have never been down to the Bahamas or the Caymans, this is just how colorful it is :) I like how easy it was to find everything on your site and it's definitely refreshing.
