I think your dark/patterned background works in this design, but it's a little too obvious. I think a more subtle background would work better.
I'm not sure why it's so wide and not very tall? Is there something that will fill that space when the user does something?
I think you could go with boxes with corners instead of the curves, since your pictures are not rounded edges. It would keep it more consistent.
I really think you need to start at the sketch stage again. You seem to have a pretty good idea of what elements you want your site to include, but they aren't very elegantly put onto the page yet.
I'm sorry, I don't want it to sound like you have nothing good here. The important part is to know what usability you want! Try giving it more space vertically. If you put the filters horizontally you could get some space back that way. Stills/Fonts/Footage could become tabs.
Good Luck!
looks a little outdated
i agree with you Chris , reflections are overused in your concept , you should consider making it a little bit shallow
Greetings Joseph,
Difficult to get the right balance sometimes and although I think you may be heading in the right direction, I find that my eyes tend to wander rapidly all over the layout. It is hard for me to start at a starting point. It could be the dark background color, or the layout itself (or both). I think less is more in this case. The "Lightbox" should stand by itself. The main photo window on the left should be more prominent and tone down the gradient, it is really rather distracting.
I realize that much work went into this so apologies for the critical poop thrown your way. But just adding my cents here. Good luck to you, this is a cool concept you have on your plate.
D.
looks nice, but i would get rid of the reflections on the four lower buttons.. good luck with it
I like the overall design, but the reflections really hurt my eyes. Try to make them better!
removing body background repeat may be good, set background-color to black
I feel margin-top is unnecessary
gradiation and reflections on the footer links dosen't play well
apart design is simple and simulate iphone effect ;)
There is really no balance to this website. To me, it looks like this was really all thrown together really quick and had no thought put into it.
Sorry to be harsh but this could really use some makeup.
The refections don't really add anything and don't seem to be executed that well.
I like the idea of the thumbnail images on the right, and i guess when you click one it goes into the main window? WIll you be able to download a comp to work on?
The filters look a little large and bulky, could they be put in a drop down box?
Where do I fond info on price, sizes etc?
Do the bottom boxes need to be all the same size? I think you would use the light box feature much more than the others, then you have space for more light boxes etc. Looks a little clunky with all four of them always there at the moment.
Thanks Chris - the reflections will def be either reworked or nixed. And those filters also need to reduce in some way - agreed!
hi there,
i like your work here. everything seems to be well balanced. apart from the reflections, as the other fella pointed out. the reflections are too heavy. lighten them up and that's all. you're good to go.
btw, i like the background pattern. looks great!
good luck
you can leave space between tilelist pictures
Please excuse my frankness and honesty here but I really think this may be a redo. There are a lot of problems graphically here. Your spacing and alignment is really off in some places. Things feel squeezed, crowded and misaligned. Your repeating background is repeating but in a bad way. There are also consistency problems through out that need to be worked on. Feel free to ignore some or all of this but I think you really need to redo this.
Thanks Nate - this is exactly why I think CF is so good! I really appreciate your critique and will be rethinking the concept.
The overall look is clean and functional. I could see myself using this.
Just some thoughts or ideas; To me, Feedback, requests and optimization has more prominence then needed. An idea, what if the light box was wider, and the user had the ability to drag images to multiple/different light boxes? I've always found this feature to be challenging on gettyone and veer.
Also, what if there was an indicator of which type of media is being search (photos, type or footage). Something simple, just to let the user know.
Yup - drag and drop in multiple lightboxes are already in the works. Totally agree about the excessive prominence on other boxes - thanks for your insight.
