The thing I see is the letter spacing. It's really tight, and in some areas it looks a little weird. The t and h how the tail of the t comes above the serif on the h and then the a and r how they come together. Just seems like it can break the flow of the text if you really look at it. (Of course, most clients won't look at these things anyways)
I was thinking maybe the TM could be resting above the top right of the k instead of jutting out of the entire logo.
I like the symbol - I think the smaller one is better, the large one is too much. I think the logo can go with or without it.
I like it more with the drop shadow, I don't see the shadow in the 4th one and it seems to have nicer coloring / shadowing in the 3rd one.
Yeah kerning was bothering me too. I will have to upload some new versions. TM will probably stay in its current position. I played with this originally, but it looked odd above the K. Thanks for the feedback.
I know that this is for a web company, but I imagine at some point this logo would show up in print. That being said, the spark becomes muddled in form especially when you consider having to shrink it down in size.
When you take a few steps back from the screen to simulate a reduction in size, the lines become blurred together and it ends up looking like a spiked ball... or those mines they used at sea in WWII to destroy ships and subs...
I think reducing the spark's complexity would go a long way
Any thoughts on how to simplify the spark? Thanks for your feedback.
sorry it took me so long to get back... don't know if you have done anything to it... but if you look at reducing the number of lines in the spark it would help it breathe a bit at smaller sizes
The logo is clean but stale. I'd like to see more "spark" within the letters and move away from the Christmassy feel of the "snowflake/star".
Yeah maybe it's just the time of the year with Christmas on everyone's mind. Thanks for the feedback.
Looks very clean and tight. I like the simplicity of the text combined with the 'complexity' of the spark. Nice work Michael.
I think the last one is the best one. The background fits better to the spark. I agree that the spark could be more simpler. otherwise it´s good, I like it. But it dosen´t reminds me of a design company, more of a bank or a house sales company.
The spark is too complex and may have difficulties translating to all forms of media (embroidered shirts, hats, etc.) It also looks like a snowflake at first glance.
Logos typically aren't always on a dark background. You need to ensure these colors have the desired effect on a white background. Try not to design a background when logo designing because it can often limit its extensibility.
It's a really great design. You've got skillz Michael.
That aside, I have to concerns with the design. First is that the logo isn't easily replicated on other mediums. The best logos are the ones that look the same whether it's embroidered on articles of clothing or hand drawn. Like McDonald's golden arches. Nuff said.
The other thing that gave me a bit of a jolt was the "nice non-offensive name" comment. Being nice and not offending people is always important, but it's not going to help a brand stand out from the pack.
Best of luck to you Michael!
right now the star won't look good at small sizes. Simplify it and I think you'll have a great design. I really like the font you used. Also the color choices are good.

Just because the company is in the "north" does need to translate into a "cold" design. The spark can be confused for a snowflake.
I don't know if its just that time of year -but it would have to be number 1 because the others invoke Christmas card . Granted the crystalline structure of a snow flake and the abstract rendering of a "sparkler" could foil even the best of us. I have stop looking know it is taking on a religious optical illusion..
i feel if u want to incorporate "spark" symbol make it simpler at the moment it looks complicated...
It seems that is the general feedback I am getting. Often times simple is harder. Thanks.
I like the last one the best. It looks to boring without the sparkle with it.
is definitely the one to go with. I would also say it would look fine with upright letters.
Spark is a good word to use.
Yes. But that's just me, personally. So many logos these days use slanted letters.
I like the third logo with the spark offset. I would simplify the spark some. The position is great as well as the font treatment. I think the light blue lines in the middle of the spark looks too much like a snowflake. Maybe a yellow color instead?
Yeah I was going for a wintery, spark that could also be a snow flake. Thanks for the feedback.
This is a good simple logo but without the gradient background it'll be tough to get it looking as good. The top logo is my favorite. The 'spark' looks like a religious star icon to me.
I actually like the first one, but the stars are quite nice too.
It might be just me, but the bottom make the name read "norths park" for some reason. The spark image takes away from the two font colors. Pretty minor optical issue though...splitting hairs.
Hi Michael, it's a great name and a very clean logo design, but as you said "it is abstract." There's a book called "Made to Stick" which (in my opinion) is an outstanding guide to catchy marketing. One of the 6 principles they cover is "Avoid abstraction." We need to be concrete in order to convert interest in to action.
You want your name to be something that people would immediately associate with SEO. Better yet, you want a name that will produce search results!
I hope this doesn't sound too critical. Like I said, I like both the name and the design, but I'm not sure they are going to help you reach your ultimate goal. So I'd rather have you reconsider the idea at this early stage in your precess.
Good luck!
Enough said here I think. No1 is the only one that really works.
The only thing is I don't get the SEO part, maybe integrate something more web development / SEO into the logo, seperating north and spark a bit.
Great work Keep it up!
ok how about splitting up the north and the spark and inserting a infinity sign made up of different sized spheres?
Like the name - catchy. Spark looks like north star, star of bethlehem, or stained glass... very Christian feel. Do you want that?
I think you're looking for energy and different and power...I'd love to see you brainstorm crazy fresh ideas to come up with a really cool spark rather than settle for tweaking existing elements.
Great work michael. my favorite is option 3
I like the last one
2nd one is really gud.
i agree with Eric Buchmann about the TM. The rest looks very slick and clean. good work.
I think the logo is nice, but what happens when you shrink the final logo down? The complexity of the spark will be lost. Maybe simplify it somewhat.
I'm not sure how well the second image would look when scaled done really small, but I love the colors, font, everything.
I like al logos looks very nice
Third concept is the best. Nice font and imagery choice. Looks fresh and different. Nothing bad to say, I think you have a fantastic design on you hands here.
love the simplicity and font. Maybe you could do a comp of the spark coming out of the name of the company?
Nice work on this all around. The type especially is really strong and the colors work, going with all lower case was a good choice too.
As far as the spark, we're a web design/seo shop and I can see the concept, the only modification I would suggest would be to layer the spark with some dimension to convey the idea that by hiring them, they would provide their clients with the "spark" to gain new business/exposure.
Great job buddy.
I like the last one best. The star over the spark adds a nice emphasis. You might want to simplify it for business card sizes though.
I know everyone else has said it already but I'll put my two cence in. The spark is lovely on screen but it will definitely not work across all media. I dont think you actually need to change it that much - just delete a few lines thats all. Excellent type though, this part works really well.
I agree with most of the folks here. I don't see a difference between #3 and #4 other than the background, which has nothing to do with the logo at all.
The spark is nice, but it big and alone by itself on the top of the logo doesn't seem to be working. I would "half" the spark horizontally and place it between the ascenders of the H and K, resting on the h-s-p-a-r.
And I agree that it still needs to be simplified.
i like the overall but i think you could still make the spark simpler..^^ number 4! ^^
the icon of he logo is good when its used in bigger sizes, but what is u are going to use it in a favicon or as a small footer icon.. troublesome..
try using a bigger and better contrasted icon for the logo.. probably an icon which is easy to remember
I love the design - very clean, well-chosen font, simply executed.
I just had one idea for you - if you were to use the "spark" design by itself with no text to help out, could you somehow put a "north" mark on the top of it? Like make the icon double as both a spark and a compass rose. I've attached an image of what I mean.
It might make it more meaningful.
Hmm, I like this idea. I originally started off by using a compass as my first design. Couldn't make it fit so I went with a "cold" spark. I might play around with this a bit. Very much appreciated. Thank you.
are the "h" in north and "s" in spark supposed to be merging? I like the spark concept.
Simple and clean. I like the placement of the spark on the third concept best, as well as the color. I would try making the spark slightly smaller and closer to the text. Also, I like the name - it reminds me of north star, which gives it a stand out and inspiring feel. The colors definitely match with the name. I really like it.
Font looks very good. Maybe increase the contrast between the two words a little bit more.
I agree with other reviewers. The spark could be simpler. It looks kinda like a snowflake.
What about putting it either before or after the company name?
I like the logo otherwise. It's crisp and clean.
Another thought? Do you really need the TM? Your design is very clean, why not kill the TM and make it cleaner? Most companies don't show the TM anymore. IMO it's tacky.
I'd prefer to sparke the mark on the right just after the logo, to introduce your customer that's a target, a point to follow. More, the sparkle should be more simple and bolder, something more an octagonal asterisk or what you want.
Color is a felt cold, you could use its warm complement.
I like number 3
Overall color used is okay except the Starburst is either too big or not in proportion with the Text Logo.
That about sums up what I was thinking too!
