... and bring the logo above. I also add some of that gray color from the footer to the nav bar so that it matches.
Overall I think this is quite nice.
A few nits that might be helpful:
A great deal of whitespace is used to the right of the logo. You may not have much contrl of this, but if there is a variation on the logo that might be shorter/wider or if you find a way to make more use of that space. (For what it is worth I think this design outclasses that logo).
The word "portfolio" doesn't seem to be centred on the buttons.
The white part of the gradient is too light and makes for low contract with the white text. Maybe use a shade of blue instead of going all the way to white?
Not knowing anything else about this firm it is a little hard to tell, but I think maybe the big images at the bottom aren't quite right. If they do digital/web design the floorplan/blueprint image with the word "development" is confusing. (I see that this may be a screenshot from a web-site, but the floorplan image is overwhelming. Similarly for the kiosk shot, but this may be the best way to capture their service here. The "support" picture looks a bit like generic clip-art, but I guess is appropriate here.
The copy may not be yours, but I'd definitely re-write that to remove the / in the top copy. I also find the // in the headings confusing. How am I supposed to read that? "Hardware Solutions"? "Hardware AND Solutions"?
I really like your use of shadows, subtle but elegant. I also like the font used in the left side of the footer.
Thanks for the feedback... I'll see if I can incorporate these ideas / suggestions.
the company is a software / design / development house in the corporate sector.
Sorry I don't understand your comment? What do you mean by placeholder for page elements needs to be realistic???
Its a clean design. I think there is too much text in the middle that pushes the page too long and puts the contact form below the fold.
I think the logo should be above the nav, it looks odd where it is right now.
One other small thing would be to make the color of the submit button in the footer the same color as the other blue buttons.
Ok just to set the record straight everyone has said keep the nav below the logo, (and that's what I tell my clients) however, just so that you are all aware you get better results from google and general SEO if the maim nav is the first thing at the top of the page.
I've never heard of that before but even if that were true I don't think they are referring to the nav being visually at the top but instead being higher up in the code which is what spiders crawl. I've always heard you wanted to keep the nav lower in the code so someone using screen readers don't have to constantly sit through the nav options every time.
what's a screen reader? - Never heard of that before, I'll do some research! Thanks!
if u have incorporate underline below contact us put same of other as well (about us, portfolio)
The biggest thing to work on with this concept is the typography. Is all the type bold? It feels like all the type is very heavy and there is a lot of it. The footer type is really bold and in your face. The logo area seems a bit awkward. Think about bringing the logo above the navigation bar. The shadow effect might also be a bit overdone. Use the shadow to create a focal point instead of using it behind everything. Just some suggestions, a decent start but there is work to be done.
Yeah, stupid me, I usually use Illustrator and Ps, just starting teaching myself Fw, and have found that I don't quite understand the way the typography works in this application yet.
would just make the navigation a little more distinct and call more attention to it. as it is, it's a little soft (contrast of letters on background)
You're wrongly used the call-to-action buttons for about us and services
Poor typography, kindly remove the double slash in the headers
Body text font should not be bold/smooth antialised better change it to no antialise with font size 11 or 12 pixels
Footer links font size is too big reduce the same
Due to the unbalanced gradient work the buttons losses the readability
Man, do you really not know the idea of feedback!
You can have your say, but try not to be such a twat about how you say it. I can handle all type of feedback, I am not precious about my work, but you really need to learn how to explain, stuff to people.
Do you think, you could offer the same feedback above but in a more positive swing so that I can learn from it?!
okey...first you learn how to design and parallely i will learn how to give feedback to you :-)
How about don't bother if you can't say it in a helpful manner...
secondly I know how to design, I may not be to your style, but I am a good designer...
Good Joke... you're wrongly estimate your skills about you Aaran!! just analyse your overall design rating and your designs are not even touch the 3 stars but you're thinking very humorously... All the Best :-)
Kapil - while the level of skill for every single designer can be challenged, I would urge you to be respectful and play nice. Your feedback was on point, but calling people amateurs is not helping anyone. Thanks!
Yes i agree Mr.Aurimas!! but he only started to calling me like bozo and voted down to my designs very intentionally. Hope you understand the situation!
Kapil
Lets set the record straight, from day dot you have commented negatively on my designs, and others too.
I don't care that you don't like the way I design, I get it... but it helps when your feedback is useful. I cannot always give poistive feedback, but I do try to help.
"OMG... another amateur work from you"
how then can you turn the above into a positive look at it the design to help me?
why you voted down to concept and reviews and calling me bozo blah blah... for any helping purpose??? can you explain me???/ its simple you cant able to recognize the negative reviews... thats it
Bugger it, I am a better person than this! Kapil, lets just let bigons be bigons... I get it that it's not the best design, the feedback and in general most of the stuff I post here gets the same feedback... but I don't care, to have people being obnoxious about their views on my concepts...
actually you dont care about the feedbacks but get enormous angry with criticizers! am i correct???
Nah I do care Kapil... and on that note I am asking you, how would you make the above better! I don't get angry with critiscisers, I just think that if you are going to critiscise someone's work, it can be done in a poistive way.
choose something eg: I like the use of colour but here are a few changes I would make... etc
so this is the new version: http://www.conceptfeedback.com/concept/1946/company-website/ what's wrong with it?
Ta-da!!! ok man! hereafter i will try to write my critics in a softer approach. what about you???
Cheers Aaran!!! Let's create something together with further developments.....
Tomorrow i will write a review for your updated design.
