    Nice and Clean

Posted on Dec 17, 2009 at 11:26 AM

This is a nice site but could use a little refining. The navigation seems pretty boring and bland to me. Is there any way to make it more interesting with out loosing the simpleness of it.

The image of the school kids is also a bit boring and that with the application login box doesn't seem to match the rest of the site.

This is a great start but could use a bit of tweaking here and there to make it even better.

BTW, i saw you put me as a top student, but don't think that's going to sway my review ;)

Eh, don't worry about it. It was just a cheap attempt at humor :)

    Some minor adjustments

Posted on Dec 18, 2009 at 2:16 AM

I noticed that there is an [active discussions] section at the bottom of the home page. So I assume that there is some sort of community area, like a forum?

However I cannot find a link anywhere on the home page that takes you to the discussion/community area. Maybe [ask a question] will take me there but what if I want to go there without asking a question?

Furthermore on the second page (loged in) I cannot find any mention anywhere of this discussion area?

Also on bottom right corner of home page, "quick links" appears to not be related to the discussion board ( I could be wrong about this) however it is graphically contained within a container with the heading "Active Discussions". Can be abit confusing if those quick links are not related to the discussions.

Other than that it seems nice :). I really like the idea of showing the top students, top tudors and top parents. Gives people something to work for, everybody likes to see their name in the light :).

    Take it up a notch

Posted on Dec 17, 2009 at 9:41 AM

I like the clean simple style, but I'm not sure it goes very well with the logo.

The logo has a bit of a gradient going in there with very bold colors.

Maybe you should use those colors throughout the site, and make it more lively.

I think you can work this.

    Take it up a notch!

    The Color

Posted on Dec 17, 2009 at 10:30 AM

I'm thinking maybe another color scheme would work better? The blue is a little too facebook-ish for me. I think another color could be more stimulating for the kids? Or even a warmer color to mellow them, or a color to help them concentrate. There are psych studies out there pertaining to how kids react to colors. (thats why all my middle school rooms were painted peach.. its calming apparently)
