This design is very very busy. You have way too much going on. Try and simplify the images and advertisements, they are far too text heavy and busy. You also need to drop the amount of colors you are using. They are making your site feel even busier. My suggestions can be summed up in one word, simplify.
apart for these, g8 design ;)
this site looks like it is trying way too hard. the design feels gimick-y; i dont like the white bozes are a display feature. maybe show how these glasses look on someone? or what type of facial features they're best suited for?
Like most folks here my first thought is the site is too busy. I think the elements are all here and would suggest re-aligning them. Your stated objective is to make the complex simple, I think any work moving forward should keep that in mind.
I like "1,2,3's" and that would be a good place to start, to me the first impression here is fashion-based glasses vs. prescription. I think it would improve the design to focus on the idea of helping people find contacts. The female model, while nice to look at, takes up a lot of real estate and thematically to me she's modeling vs. buying prescription eyewear on the internet.
Overall, a little re-aligning will go a long way and I really like the inner pages (especially the individual product page).
As an e-commerce site I say you did a good job. It actually functions right and all. BUT as for your purpose you totally lost it and went another direction. You have a lot of different info on the site, so the consumer eyes may stray a bit. You said you want it to be simple & add confidence. For ppl around the age of 16-25, yea. But as for you older customers they might become overwelhmed and or confused a bit.
You want to make a straight to the point site. Add the info that, that page needs & links to other info not also we have this that & the third.
I like the Way the Site is oriented towards E-commerce, well wish u could reconsider the colors
The design looks a little dated to me, however these can be fixed. Little things can be done such as increasing the padding around heading backgrounds, increasing the line height on some items, and remove the clutter (too much content/options) etc. web2.0 it.
The 'All Eyeglasses Come With' banner on the home page looks out of place. The colours used in this banner are not used in other parts of the site.
The big banner in the centre of the home page needs to be smaller.
Try moving the elements around the page. Id be tempted to move the 'Shop Eyeglasses by brand' etc. bar below the 'Featured Items this week'. At present I would need to scroll quite far down the page to see anything you sell.
Good effort though, lot of work gone into this!
hey,
great work, what I would change is the navigation both on top and left side it just doesn't pop up enough and lacks some originality.
Also the products use a lot of white space that can be reduced to half.
that's it for now.
MEster.
i like the layout but i think it would be better if you decreased the colors or changed the color scheme
Too many fonts and ads... reduce and try again
I really like this concept. The only thing I might suggest is tone down the busy-ness of it. There seems to be alot going on there on the first page.
Especially on the first page the lime green seems to fight with the rather sophisticated blue and red from the banner. It is less disturbing on the pages you show further down. For a optical store I would expect to be very organized and clear. Here the different boxes are fighting for their attention.
So, in the area with the girl image, just below "America's #1", I think you have to many images of individual glasses in their own white box, which makes things feel a bit busy.
If you have access into the raw images, maybe combine the actual glass in a single image stacked next to each other?
This website has an original and fresh concept. Its eye-catching and engages you. However, once the time comes to actually do some research on glasses, lenses, or other info I find it very overwhelming. So, I would try simplifying the website alittle bit. Also, the color scheme seems alittle mismatched, ie. darker purplish blue with red on the top and then in the bottom you have light blues, greens, grays. I would choose one color scheme to make it more concrete.
Gr8 work i just engaged the design!, in customer reviews section can you change the normal font to georgia or times new roman or include the quotes before and end of the testimonial
I will go through some usability and user experience issues rather than design issues as most people have already covered that.
Although I really have to say layout wise on the home page just way too much vertical real estate is being used up by nothing but banners. The real crunch part of that page is the browse and feature products. On 1024x768 people will barely see the browse without having to scroll down.
In terms of User Experience, on your search results page (second screenshot) you REALLY need to give the users a way to sort their results. Sorting is a very important element of browsing search results. People will want to sort by: price, brand, type, color, style etc. Especially with a database which returns a lot of results. You can't just drop 14 pages of product results onto a user and not give them a way to sort them.
With your SELECT LENSE OPTION screen, your [Back to Product Deatils] button is in a very unorthodox position which will most likely get missed by most viewers. I had to tilt my head and squint my eyes to read what the button said. It would be a lot more effective if you were to simply place it to the left of the [Add Coatings >>>] button.
In your footer your column headings ( customer service, way to shop, socialize) have the same style as the links underneath them. This can get confusing for the users (people trying to click on the headings thinking they are links).
i don't like some gradients on the banner and some choice of colors..everything is a little crowded.
but the site looks bit bussy and crowded dont know which one to look first evrythng is taking the eye
The design looks a little dated. If this is a redesign, take the opportunity to be a little adventurous with the design while keeping things usable.
You should first make the navigation more legible.
I agree, the site is a little busy...yet, you have a great concept. I hope you do not sell out to walmart like 1800contacts.
