    Font Choice

Posted on Dec 11, 2009 at 11:59 AM

I think the emblem part of the design is fantastic. Incorporating the S & Co is great. I think you could tweak it a little more to make it look like a lock. If I didn't read the background info, it would have taken me a little longer to figure out what it was. I would play with the copy font a little more. I like the first one the best because the increased x-height coinsides with the height of the emblem. I would get rid of the crossed "m" though. It registers as an upside down cross.. Overall, the first is my favorite. But maybe with a different font. : )

    The feel of each logo

Posted on Dec 11, 2009 at 12:15 PM

INtersting becasue the bottom two really evoke a feeling of history and tradition. It might be the font.

The top two feel much younger and subsequently more modern.

I would love to see a combination of the two middle logos. (Image of the top rounded lock with the font of the third logo.

The and CO. work really great in the third one.

    Overall four excellent logos.

    2nd

I like the second logo most of all. But unfortunately I don't like any of the type face. Also don't think you need the "C" inside of the logo for company. Maybe just make it more a part of the general aesthetic than ironical.

space between the "O" and the "D"

Posted on Dec 11, 2009 at 4:27 PM

    Hi Octavio,

I like the third and fourth one down.

I would bring the "O" in toward the "D" a lot. My eyes keep on wanting to close the lock. Yet, when my mind does, it can't because I think that square part of the lock needs to be pulled down a bit for that to happen.

The first logo design, I did not identify that symbol as a lock (unlike the third and fourth icon.)

    The 4th

Posted on Dec 13, 2009 at 9:44 PM

I like the fourth. In the first two i didn't see the lock at first. I would change the typeface from the 4th to one more modern, for me that font doesn't reflect the: "were back" message. Overall its pretty original and simple

    1st concept

Posted on Dec 14, 2009 at 7:59 AM

I really like your first concept and love the idea of making the "S" form a lock. I think you need to make it look more like a lock. At first I wasn't sure what it was. I would also add some sort of tagline to tell what the company does. The cross on the m in "company" isn't needed. Though I love the first concept, I'm not sure I get history out of it. It looks like a very new and contemporary logo. I would try and add some history in it. Or maybe you can do that with the tagline, "Helping with your lock needs since 1930"...Just a thought, good work.

    2nd one

Posted on Dec 15, 2009 at 6:17 PM

I think the 2nd one is the more subtle one which has the modern touch in it on the graphic, but maybe you could use the font of the 3rd logo? This might just give you that history tradition feeling you're looking for.

    Font and Logo/Lock

Posted on Dec 17, 2009 at 3:43 PM

I like the direction of the top two and prefer the second one of that set. That font kinda works but some of the letter width is too varried, specially with the H, E, and A. I'm distracted by the spacing (tracking) between the letters, that might help with the varied widths of the letters mentioned above.

The play with the S to make the lock works but the top of the S could be smaller. Play with thickness from thinner from the top and wider towards the bottom. Usually looks tend to have a wider bottom then they do top.

The "Co" is kinda throwing me off. Maybe if the O was little bigger and more toward the center..keep playing with it i like your idea.

    Typography on 2nd from top

Posted on Jan 20, 2010 at 11:44 PM

Really liked the modern lock you used as logo in the top two proposals. Even though I prefer the second typography used, I still get the feeling of a prefab theme. Looks great!

I like these concepts! It does seem that there isn't a middle ground though. Concepts 1 & 2 immediately scream "modern", while 3 & 4 shout "classic". My thoughts were to try using the font from the second concept, with the STYLE of the lock in the 3rd concept.

On a side note, I really like the look of the lock in the first 2 concepts. Very original!
