    Typography fluidity

Posted on Dec 10, 2009 at 3:56 AM

You need to focus on consistency with your type.

The simplest thing to do is just practice design using different font faces of different weights and different sizes. You got a nice framework. So now is the time to focus on the individual elements to make everything "flow" naturally.

Did a little something with an idea I had while looking your design over. Take what you want from it.

Hi Michael, Thanks for the feedback and the AWESOME mockup. This is just a 'coming soon' page, so we don't want to spend a ton of time on it. But, we wanted to put SOME effort into it so folks would feel more comfortable giving us an email.

Your idea is something we will be looking at for the real site. We know we want something cute but not cheesy. Building out a vector field with playing pups would be sooo worth looking at.

I'm an engineer, so this is my best design effort to date. Might have to find a vector artist to build out the bigger stuff.

      Thanks again for the feedback.

    More cute dogs!

Posted on Dec 10, 2009 at 6:22 AM

The composition is good, I would add some mor color and cute dogs as in the logo...

The whitespace below is quite big too, so maby check that too.

    Otherwise very good!

    Does the trick

Posted on Dec 10, 2009 at 7:29 AM

This does what you want it to but is not very engaging. I think you could improve your success rate with this if you made it much more engaging, fun and interesting. This should be a really fun site, not a very clean and sterile site.

    lines

    1) Nice but a bit stiff, I would try to break the straight lines somehow. And it looks quite serious. 2) Yes I have 3) That would be good

    Give it some pop

Posted on Dec 10, 2009 at 2:47 PM

The info (Dogwalkers, etc.) is a little too plain. Not eye catching. Maybe you could do something as simple as making the bullet points paw prints. It would give it something extra without overdoing it.

A little texture would be nice to add depth to the design.

As a dog lover I would like to see more illustrations of dogs doing fun stuff to really evoke some emotions out of other dog owners.

Making it a lot more playful with vectors and even possibly brighter colors might do the trick.

Hope this helps - Looks like a fantastic start to something great.

    Brown box

Posted on Dec 11, 2009 at 9:04 AM

The design is simple and straight forward. The one thing that I noticed right away is the brown box with the arrow reminds me of a UPS package... mail.. mailman.. dog biting mailman. I see why you choose the brown, but maybe you should do something to move the shape away from the mail reference. (unless that's what you were going for )

Also, I would make sure to link certain things to pages. For example, make "Daily Doggy Journal" a link to more information.

    general feel

Posted on Dec 09, 2009 at 3:26 PM

Everything has good placement. The page is a little lackluster. Maybe revisit the bullets and include that second call to action.

You have a "happy" feel emanating from the logo, and the rest of the page seems a little stiff compared to it. It looks like you want a soft fun feel but some of the structure and fonts detract from that.

Make the brown arrow white so the user gets drawn to the textfield

    use less space

Posted on Dec 09, 2009 at 5:30 PM

    1) Illustrations based design look good overall.

2)Probably offering a service for pet parents to connect with people who are interested in walking their dogs .

3)Yes , a button calling to action of some sort would help

Change the placement of the "Coming Soon!" bubble.

Posted on Dec 09, 2009 at 9:56 PM

Overall, the design is nice and simple. I'm getting kind of a "Twitter" feel from the site; I think it's a combo of the clouds, colour palette and the simple illustrations. It's nice, though.

I agree with Brik; after looking at the light brown arrow in the center I think it would look great in white.

I understand what your site exists for; I think that comes across plainly in the name and the blurb you have about the site under the logo.

If you wanted, you could probably put all the content you have below the main bar on a separate page and link to it with a button that says, "Who We Are" or something to that effect. Just a minor thing, though.

The "Coming Soon!" bubble I think should be placed nearer to the right section (perhaps next to the text "Be the first to know..."), as I don't think it looks balanced sitting on the logo. It is also taking away from the logo because it is in great contrast to its surroundings, making it the first thing people will look at.

Overall, cute site, nice and simple.
