Try to make the mountains stand out a little bit more. perhaps just a little more saturation will do it :)
At first I wasn't positive that the torn paper and the snow themes went together but I think you pulled it off. It's a nice, grungy and edgy look that I think probably matches the ski company quite well. The placement of the ads within recent news throws me off a bit. I would play around with the placement of those. Good work here, I like it!
all the best for your design competition. Good Luck!
I like the feel of it, its a very laid back looking website, which is ideal for boarders.
The only downside is the readability of the text on the main content, it kind of blends in a little with the background.
The overall layout and balance is good, but I don't see how the paper bag textures fit with the company. Also, I think there are too many different textures - 1 for the nav, 1 for the right nav, 1 for the main text, 1 for the section titles, and 1 for the footer. Regardless of what texture you decide to use for the main text, I think the images and ads could either use a subtle drop shadow or a border.
I think the logo and the shopping list are competing for dominance so I'd consider moving the shopping list so the logo can dominate the top and be the focal point.
Your layout is clean and easy to follow. My only concern would be the paper textures - at first glance, the main container looks more like a website for surfing or water sports. I do like the grunge look; perhaps playing with different colour schemes would help integrate the background better with the foreground.
I think this looks great but it seems like the kind of site that would need at least some sort of user interaction (slide shows, animation) to give it a boost - are there any plans for this?
Very nice
You can put the headlines stand on the images in the "featured" with .. maybe half transparent background in either black or white, I guess black is better, and also bigger fonts for the titles in the "recent news", that's it!
THE GREEN STICKERS MAKE THE SITE A BIT DARK. MAYBE CHANGE THE COLOR OF THE TEXT WITHIN THEM INTO WHITE
i think designs like that are hard to pull off but u did a great job good work
Hi Brian , I really like this it looks very inviting.
Just a few suggestions on polishing this up a bit.
I think it may look nicer if you made the letters darker or bold under categories compared to the numbers ("(50)", "(3)").
right away my attention was drawn to the mis alignment of the titles to the pic blocks under "Recent News"
The last tid bit, you may want to look at is how you have treated the second item in the shop different from the first and third. Maybe by throwing the word "Bindings" to the second line and upping the size a bit as you have " Men's fitted Cap" and "Dakine backpack" will make all the difference on feeling as though it belongs in the shop listing with the rest.
This page looks fun and interesting!
In general i like it, the rss draw idea is good but maybe it's a little bit big.
on the fence about torn paper textures suiting the ski motif, but i do feel that there are too many different textures competing so it's a little distracting and overwhelming. you were going for visual interest but for me it's too much.
it is really well done and i like the concept behind it however. maybe simplify to 2 different textures and fine tune the colour to be more of a pale coral red instead of orange.
"from the shop" is more highlighted at the moment and taking the eye because of its white bg can replace the color to light yellow as u have used in shopping list hope u will appreciate the suggestion
Good concept....
thanks for the feedback, I wanted the mountains to have faded/aged photograph look to them, that's why they are probably looking a little desaturated.
