I think that if the sentence "reading through proverbs" was smaller, it should look great.
Everything looks so much big. But I like it instead (the tipography is doing great for the theme).
This page has some unique qualities, but the main text font (under Proverbs) is difficult to read. This font is best suited for titles. I'd like to see a font with more kerning for the main text to make it easier to read. Your site visitors will be much happier.
I would make the heading smaller - its a bit much! And change the "daily chapter" subheading to the same font as the menu headings so there is some flow. May be even get rid of the blue background or lighten it alot! The yellow line doesn't really sit well . The whole thing looks like the page is cut in half - try make the page look like a "whole page". Otherwise it is a good start - well done!
The banner is unable to change and I am not quite sure what font you are talking about...everything is in Georgia. I also am unclear about the "whole page" comment, can you please clarify? Thanks for the feedback!
i didn't realise it was a banner. The shot you have looks like the banner takes up half a webpage! Could you match the font colour in the banner with a lighter brown? With a blue background similar to the banner? It doesn't really flow with the grey font as New bird says below.... sorry bout the confusion re:banner!
I really like the general look and feel of this layout. The nav is beautiful and use of type is nice for proverb area. Your navigation, main text and footer all have a clean and refined feel.
The header definitely needs some work though. The font is odd, words are hard to read and the colors don't work with the rest of the design. Maybe it's the book leading the eye off the page? In conjunction with the fact that your words are tucked behind it?
Thanks for the feedback Lisa, unfortunately I am unable to change the header image. That was given to me and will change every year according to what section of the bible they are going through. Thanks so much for feedback!
i think there is too much gray in this one maybe "reading through proverbs" could be orange?
over all it looks cool
Thanks for the feedback Newbird. I am trying to keep a very neutral color scheme so that it goes with whatever image they want to put in the header. There will be a new header image every year to go with the section of the bible they are studying. Therefore the site needs to be super generic. Thanks for the thoughts though, very much appreciated!
You should add some color to different action items on your page. Such as the "Read More" & "Share Your Thoughts".
I think improving some of these details will help improve the overall feel of the site.
the readability is not there because of that for "recent entry" section
i also didnt like the font you have used "words to the wise"
Making a website more impressive is how selecting the appropriate letter to the character of the website. Usually a maximum of 3 different typography, more than that will cause the eye will be disturbed/annoying and also the fonts size too.
Yeah, I understand the concern. Unfortunately the font in the header image was given to me and is not under my control. The header image will change every year.
I think this concept needs more colors, even though you try to be neutral with them, I think this is now too neutral. Everything else looks good.
The logo looks like you didn´t spend too much time with it ;-) but it´s not totally bad I must say.
Thanks for the feedback Miro. I'll experiment with adding some more colors in.
You're spot on with the logo, I think I whipped it up in 10 minutes. I'm not too worried about the logo as it doesn't really need to be carried through to any other pieces.
Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated!
Maybe you could play with the "asdf"-letters on the logo, write "bible" there or something else related to the theme?
there is something about this at is not hitting me right.
maybe its the nav been at the bottom or the color are to washup or some dont know.
i think, need to add more colors. much more white and gray.
Thanks Ali, but unfortunately this site needs to be very neutral since the header image will change every year.
Thanks Vinisius!
