    PINK! for cars?!

Posted on Nov 29, 2009 at 8:07 PM

Well displayed, categories positioning at the middle is good while the categories pictures are not showing with clarity the product. E-commerce engine, is awesome, what is it? Magento? I have to be sincere, I didnt like the colors. not sure if pink is the proper one to sell car stuff.

Hey, about categories pics, yes i guess from now it's temporary. Maybe you can recommend how to structure the pics? The magento was not so flexible to our products, each has ~200variations, that's weeks of work in magento :) It's Presta shop, i really love it! About the colors, i think the desition would be add extra color to change. But if that wouldn't be possible i guess we will change pink to violet.

Yes, maybe you can reduce the zoom in the pics so we can see better the product or add more transparency to the description pink tab. just an ideia. And Yes, prestashop, is indeed easier to handle than magento.

    Some'm about the pink :oI

Posted on Nov 29, 2009 at 8:35 PM

Agree with the comments on the pink. It's unexpected, which can be good, but I felt like I was looking at a site for girl's cars. Things may be different in Lithuania (that's where it is based, yes?), so I don't want to completely pooh pooh it. Stick with it if you're sold on it. It is a hot color for a hot item.

Also agree that the display pictures are not as clear as I would want them to be - I'm not sure what the actual decals look like from some of the pics, particularly: • hand signs and shockers • Japanese domestic market (where on the car was this pic taken) • European • US domestic market

Having griped about all that as though I know what I'm talking about (which I don't really - don't listen to a word I say), I actually really like the layout. It's unexpected and clean and image/color heavy without making me ill by looking at it. I don't think this too often, but I would actually investigate this site more.

About pink, well we decided to use it because, it's like hype at the moment, it's trendy color :), it looks nice, girls like it, but boys started to like it too. So we can experiment. Lithuania is not different from rest of Europe :) And it's orientated to Eu and Us markets :) As I commented on Anderson Torres, now i have an idea to add extra color to change, or just change it to Violet. About those images, maybe you can recommend something how to design them better? As i don't like it too at the moment.

What do you think about trends of 2010 in web designing, i am actually thinking about Over-sized-header. But e commerce site should be clean so i can't decide.

      Thanks for comment, cheers! K

    Pinky Color?...

Posted on Nov 30, 2009 at 4:46 AM

It's good for the layout but have another color beside pink color? Is the pink color related with your brand identity? Can you added with some ornament?

    • Karolis Versockas
Posted: on Nov 30, 2009 at 6:32 AM

It was blue(mid-light ones) but now with the new identity, we choose pink, what do you mean with ornament? Are you talking about background pattern?

    Holy PINK

Posted on Nov 30, 2009 at 8:55 AM

Unless you want to appeal to a majority of girls, I think you need to man up this design a bit. Normally I don't really buy into pink being a girl color, but I think you have to consider your target audience. That being said, you have an amazing layout here. Everything else works really well, good job!

    • Karolis Versockas
Posted: on Nov 30, 2009 at 3:14 PM

No, the girly audience is minority. What do you think about violet, darken or lighter?

      Thanks Cheers!

I think you should probably go a different color route completely. Maybe like a bright orange, red, blue or green? I know it's difficult to choose a different color scheme. Just my thoughts...

Our brand identity is in combination with blue/pink. Maybe i should use both of them then?

    Beyond the pink

Posted on Nov 30, 2009 at 2:53 PM

Sorry but this misses the mark

    Objective: Concept usability

Lets face it this site sells decals and yet I cant make out a single decal or piece of art work.

The pink is way to much like ketchup on tomatoes.

you are obviously a very talented artist however your concept misses the mark.

A jeweler never sets a perfect stone in bright gold.

      Hello!,

What do you mean by that "this site sells decals and yet I cant make out a single decal or piece of art work." You say that you actually don't see one?

About pink, yeah, problem it is :)

      Can you recommend anything?

      Thanks! Cheers!

Forget about the pink I think we have established that .

My comments center around the fact that the decals themselves are not predominant or adequately represented. I would quickly qualify my statements with the following less inspired but ultimately more pertinent sites.

      http://www.carstickers.com/ http://www.decalkits.com/ http://www.decalstore.com/ http://www.thefind.com/family/info-motor-decal http://www.magnetic-marketing.co.uk/html/vehicledecals.htm http://www.professormotor.com/catdecals.shtml

"Can you recommend anything?" tone down the set and feature the art I guess in this case the artists.

Thank you for the opportunity to clarify my point.

Hey, check it out now @ www.automotodeco.com does that what you meant?

But i think overall design of most stores that you posted is not acceptable what do you think?

Yes this i what I was trying to say -I agree the sites I mentioned as a package fail - but they do emphasis the point i was trying to make-a valid one which you have captured again IMO.

    Bright Aint it

Posted on Nov 30, 2009 at 4:52 PM

Hey this is an awesome design, and has a nice flow to it, although I find the color scheme (like everyone else) a little too over powering!

I like the Magenta - it's extreme, but maybe look at bringing a complimentary colour and chucking that into the mix, my suggestion would CYAN 100%!

Overall Great job, I like your take on the accordian style internal nav - great work!

Did you know that people stick to the bright colors more than soft one's? I guess we should experiment people interest in site with this bright color?

    Min-height columns

Posted on Nov 30, 2009 at 5:19 PM

    Hi,

Your design is clean, even if i'm not fan full pink. I'm bother with the fact that left & right colums doesnt have the same minimum height. Try to give the same height than the middle block.

    Bye

You say that they should be at start, or even when accordion menu is released?

I didnt see it was jquery accordion...I think it's not necessary cause you dont need to hide your cart, and the visitor should not be able to hide your new product or your top seller, in a business logic. So I'll keep this 2 columns fixed min-height for sure.
