Hi! Again, I couldn´t explain this well enough so I made a picture: http://i45.tinypic.com/b8l2d1.jpg Main things here:
Colors: Blue is now the color of truth and orange the color of hope.
Menu looks more like a menu (not text) now. The boxes that were in the footer have a place where they can be seen better. Smaller text size has been used. The special font you used is no more (it didn´t look like truth nor hope to me).
I think you made an excellent job with this, and these are only changes that I suggest. Feel free to disagree :-)
Nice I could help you. The font felt too inviting and friendly, I felt that it took away some "professionalism" from the whole work.
For not being a designer, you have done a fantastic job here. It looks better then some of the stuff coming from designers. I think the design works really well. A huge improvement from the current site. The only thing that could use a little help is the text area. It feels a little heavy. Try to lighten the font and align "this is africahope" to the left. Great work!
a few things i think i would change would be the search box, i think the solid lines of the border dont fit well with the rest of the design. You might want to try a box with the same grunge style as your line breaks.
also i would bump the text down 1 or 2 px's in the content area
I doubt any more change is required. The site has it all. Great Job.
I'm speechless -whether your aware or not i do not know "I know more about cardiovascular disease than I do about kerning." these are very professional results *good on yer!
I think you have captured the essence of your NGO really well. The message of what AfricaHope does is very clear. I wonder if enough emphasis is placed on what you want your website visitors to do - ie what action you want them to take. I am guessing there are two key things:
I particularly like the icons you have created at the bottom. Its a god use of colour and iconography. I wonder if it is worth using similar graphics at the top for "Get Involved" and Donate"? As well as giving people a clear message about what they can do, this would tie the top and bottom of the design together.
I love the photos but wonder about reducing their height - so that most people on reasonable size screens do not have to scroll to view the bulk of the site.
a) you can remove "This is Africa Hope" from the present position in the layout its looks odd over there b)"trnsforming lives"..text i would have incorporate inside the main image placeholder.. rest is nice job..!!
I don't see why everyone is so agreeable with your design. I think in some ways it's worse than the current website.
You need more white-space around your body text because it feels cluttered.
Change the style of your navigation menu so it actually looks like a set of links. Whereas the current website has a distinguishable style difference between the body content and the navigation, in your design, the links are same color and style as body text.
Stop using my name in vain to grow the subscriber base of your church, you dirty parasites.
In the main content area i would look at decreassing the size of the font, and maybe give the padding a little more from the image on the left.
The search box could do with being inline with the rest of the design, at the moment it just looks placed in.
I would also look at making the menu stand out more, maybe use the colours from the boxes down the bottom?
All in all its a nice start.
I think it may look better with the footer blocks along the top just under the main image.
:-D
Wow. I'm thankful that you'd go through the time to do this. tips hat in gratitude I really like the way these suggestions look. I'll get working on it now. Quick question, did you not like the hand written font because it didn't work at all, or because it didn't work with 'truth & hope'? (I was troubled with the 'truth and hope thing myself.) I was thinking that the handwriting it made the site look inviting and friendly. Yes? No?
