    Difficult design

Good work on an extremely difficult project here. You have a ton of content to fit in here but you have done a pretty good job of it.

    I like it

don't love it, but i can see you are great at what you do. i think if you could get this header down to about 50% of what is currently up there it will make a world of difference. all your graphics are top notch and your typography is really sharp.

The left nav is just far to long i would brainstorm and try to figure a way to consolidate it a bit more.

    over all great job .

thanks, the existing site has popout menus which dont work that well so as an aide to navigation from the home page (which the current version lacks) we decided to space them out.

    Remove Credit Cart options

Posted on Nov 26, 2009 at 1:32 AM

Their is no need for the credit card options to be placed at the top. You should either remove it or place it in the footer. It's something people don't need to see at the top of the site, they come for beds and they look for beds if they need to know about credit cards they can scroll down. I will also make the site look cleaner at the top. Because of the fast use of colours with in the credit card area I was attracted to that as it was standing out from the white background but it was not needed.

we've added them at the top in response to a lot of calls asking if we support card a, b or c etc - its basically to help free up our small customer services team.

    good work

Posted on Nov 27, 2009 at 11:11 AM

As others have said, good work on a difficult job.

The only thing i'd consider is throwing in an Ajax slider or something on top - before you hot the boringness of bed after bed.

If you can get a large image in first of some "selling" shots sliding (special offers etc.) your more likely to "sell" on the first page rather than "bamboozle" the customer with choice.

By selling shots I hope you know what I mean. People lounging around in a comfy duvet laughing, drinking wine, whatever they happen to be doing. Yeh, you know what I mean. "Come buy this bed and you too could be with the person of your dreams having the time of your life - and it's only £99 !"

Having just looked on their current site, they kind of have what I mean on the home page (ajax slider), but without the "new life happiness" images to boot.

Make beds exciting, after all, they are the best place to be!

I think the overall header of the site is a bit cluttered, I prefer the one on your site currently.

I love the 4 value statements (price match promise, free delivery, 45% off, need a bed tomorrow). These are great for making the customer understand your unique value right off the bat.
