    A bit cluttered

Posted on Nov 23, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Looks a bit cluttered here. I would try and simplify this site down to the most important information. You have a HUGE paragraph of text at the bottom and you will probably see 10% or less of your visitors reading it. It looks like a very large disclaimer. Your spacing could also be improved, especially on the left column. Give the elements some space to breath.

    Change some things...

Posted on Nov 23, 2009 at 1:07 PM

There a lot of things I like about the site, but some things strike me. The main things:

    • Add an intro text A really good way to make the user feel comfortable with is to give him a good description of what the site is about, what you can expect, etc. Just short. After that you guide them to the product page or contact page.

    • Add some reasons why I should choose you Most people just search google and see a lot of jewelry websites. So you should list some clear reasons how you stand out.

    • Change the text 'The Radiance of Trust'. Use that space more effective and say something like 'an online jewelry shop'.

    • Use white space. The content text is only about 5 px from the border. Make it at least three times more.

    • Change the oblique font. The font you used, for example for the navigation, looks quite cheap and that it not what a jewelry wants to look I think.

    • Use less content text Less = more. So less text under the Hotsellers!

    • Change position of search box to the right. Hope these tips are useful and tell me when you have a new concept :-).

    Simplify

Posted on Nov 23, 2009 at 1:22 PM

There is a lot of stuff on this page. Try and communicate as efficiently as you can.

Limit your font usage to one or two and simplify the navigation a lot.

    lose the text

Posted on Nov 23, 2009 at 2:56 PM

One thing: Lose the text under the jewels and make the jewels your primary content.

Also highlight the boxes "Objects of desire" etc more, they don´t stand out from the rest of the content now.

Hi Rajiv! With the first one I tried to tell you to take away the big text part, but now I see that you need it for SEO purposes.

And about the boxes, they are now white and don´t stand out from the rest of the content, make their background blue and use dark purple/blue/white text, for example.

too much purple... too much text

Posted on Nov 24, 2009 at 4:07 AM

    • The purple is over bearing, not classy...

    • The text under the photos wouldn't get read, if it's important information it definitely needs to be condensed and reformatted... but if it's not that important, you could just remove it altogether...

    • The navigation looks messy, there are 3 sets of menus all looking different, just too much going on...

    • what's the 'hot seller' long rectangle about ??

    • The whole layout is overcrowded
