    style

Posted on Nov 15, 2009 at 10:32 AM

I like it, but the style you used to illustrate the house (cartoony, with slanted walls/window panes) may not be the best representation of a professional architectural firm. Perhaps a more iconic styling with straight, parallel lines would be better?

It'd also be cool, if you could get the H centered under the mark, so it could act as the tree trunk. That might not be doable, but I think worth trying.

    Name and logo

Posted on Nov 21, 2009 at 5:15 AM

I think every thing is fine with the logo, its a great design but the only thing which think doesn't set in, is the "smoke coming from the chimney". If the company is promoting "Green" housing than this could be negative cos u do not really want to show releasing smoke from the chimney, when you are building green housing projects. ....... Just a thought.

    Ilustration style

Posted on Nov 27, 2009 at 3:12 PM

Swarat, I think the care idea is GREAT. Although, as someone else mentioned before, the cortoonish style doesn't look very professional. The first option looks unbalanced. This is probably the result of the text not being aligned under the illustration. One more thing... just consider that, eventually, they will need to use the logo in BLACK AND WHITE. Given the fact that green is so important in your design, I sugest that you take the time to try different grays or shades that could make the idea still look good. Or maybe it's an outlined version of your design the best way to adapt your idea to B&W.

    Nice work!

    avoid gradients in the fonts

I liked the second one, but I think if smoke comes from the chimeney is it good for environment? Nice and simple... but I'm not quite sure if is the type of logo for a builder company...

    Nice work!

Really really love it, fantastic logo.

Only thing I would say has already been mentioned - wether or not it fits with professional or corporate image.

If the company's brand is a little bit friendly and quirky then it's spot on.

    Good work.

I think the slightly cartoonish part is a big part of the appeal. It makes it feel the company is professional but not uptight. I think it is very strong. Making it all square and neat would kill it in my opinion.

I would remove the dark green border

Posted on Nov 17, 2009 at 10:04 AM

I think the dark green border around the edges doesn't help it much. I think it would look a lot more sharp without the dark outline. Other than that, I really like it. The font is good too.

If you could make the background image a little more tree like, I'd like to see that. But this will work well tiny on a business card or large on the side of a truck and that my friend is one of the most common things over looked in logo design IMOP. You know your on to something when your logo is readable at dime size.

    Loved it.

Posted on Nov 30, 2009 at 12:37 PM

I think the cartoon-like illustration works great, and stands out in this field.

I think the circle at the top of the roof makes it look less professional (hard to explain why though), and the chimney might be unnecessary, so I would try making a third version without them and see if it works.

The chimney does give it a more 'cozy' feel, but on the other hand smoke and eco-friendly might not be the perfect match:)

another idea might be adding a walkway in front of the house instead, but that's just an idea:)

    the smoke, the irony...

Posted on Nov 21, 2009 at 6:33 AM

I agree with previous review, the chimney and smoke surely are too big an irony... what about some eco looking house...i don't say go fully 'earthship' (a word worth googling for ideas) style but at least a little 'earthship'ish' ?

Aside from that, I do really like the apple green and shape...

    style as well

Posted on Nov 21, 2009 at 9:04 PM

I agree with sean, i think a cleaner straighter illustration would suit the modern identity of architecture firms. However, i like the softness, it brings a bit of organic/nature-ish fell into the not as eco-friendly "techy" business. I would play between this two ideas.

Also the font reminds me of a 50s swing show, again i would think between the two forms, organic, and clean/modern IE: sans serif/serif

I think you have a great start and pallete, keep going!
