    Manly look

The colors are nice. The image in the banner is less in contrast. The typos are well manged. There is more space before the footer..

    nice website love the colors

    just couple of issues

    a) need to curtail down the height of the selected nav tab..its seems like i am climbing a brick

    b) need to remove the lines placed on top and bottom of "current series"

    c) can try the placement of the register button next to the "squire: " text instead on right...

    d) why u have incorporate same action call (register btn) on both the places in homepage

    rest is well done!!

Thanks for the thoughts Swarat. I could agree with you on the nav. I was trying to look quite a bit different from every other nav out there. It's a good point on the register button as well. I will take a look at all of the suggestions here, thanks again!

    Improve contrast / readability

Posted on Nov 30, 2009 at 5:51 AM

dark tan on tan and white on tan is hard to read. I'm on a mac so it is fainter than a pc.

I love the design I think it's perfect.

One thing could look nice to experiment with diff. fonts instead of verdana. Try Lucida Grande on. I have a style set I developed for the css so lucida grande can use bold and italic and look good on pc and ie too!

    here it is:

    font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;

    strong, em, b, i { font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight:bold; }

Thanks for the feedback Daina, your not the first to mention the font. At this point the font will probably stick but for my next site I'll be sure and not use Verdana :)

    Nice, clean design.

Not really much else to say about it, the only thing I would dare touching is the background colour. It's a bit too pastel/female in the middle. Add a slight hint of orange to the mix?

Wow!!! excellent vintage design, its works well

Posted on Dec 15, 2009 at 4:27 PM

I like everything in this design like typography, grunge edges, vintage color scheme, scratches, call to actions etc but my only concern is "WELCOME TO MENS FRATERNITY" full caps text style not blending with the rest of the design if you change that into small caps it will be fantastic.

I really appreciate this because I did a sub-site for our church's Men's Frat program (http://mensfrat.lebefree.org). However I did not get much content to work with for ours.

Anyhow I think you hit a home run on this one.

    Knights-typeface

Posted on Nov 10, 2009 at 12:10 PM

Hard task, but you´ve managed well. One thing, try an even more knight-like typeface for the "Knights of the..."-text, for example http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Rothenburg-Decorative

Change the background color / gradient

Posted on Nov 10, 2009 at 12:39 PM

It's a great use of textures, and I love the header in particular, but the black brick texture and red callout box seem pretty stark compared to the pastel background. Pinkish-rose seems a slightly odd choice for a teenage male audience. Maybe a brownish earth tone instead?

Spacing between the main content and footer

Posted on Nov 10, 2009 at 12:44 PM

    Hi there, Nate!

I love the design! You've managed to fuse trendy and medieval together quite nicely!

Maybe the only thing that I can think of is the spacing between the content and the footer: It's too large. Also, why not try to close the box of the "welcome to mens fraternity" section as it seems like it's hanging because of its slowly disappearing background.

But all in all, it's great!

    Looks Great

Posted on Nov 12, 2009 at 5:18 AM

Looks really good, nothing stands out thats really bad. If i had to mess around and change things...

i'd try changing the pastel background, something a shade lighter to make a bit of contrast. the light red 'Current series' text could be a shade lighter. This is gonna sound weird but it's very 'Knight-y' at the top and turns more 21st century after the 3 boxes. Maybe a good medieval footer or font somewhere to make sure people get the brand idea. All really small ideas which probbbably aren't needed/won't look right. Should be really happy with the design, it's Awesome.

Aaah.. turns out my internet had conked and only loaded to the second 'register' button. Ignore what i said about the medievalness; the footer looks great. I'd try the red colour for the text down there, or maybe even the logo (which looks great btw). Could the three boxes on the footer be a bit darker like the three boxes further up? Definatedly move the footer up to remove the blank space.

      Amazing Design

The placement of the register button in the banner

Posted on Nov 13, 2009 at 3:56 AM

Everything looks pretty solid. I would just change the place of the REGISTER button on the home page banner.

I really think this is a do over unfortunately. Maybe make that knight image the full background and get rid if the bricks. The tabs are okay where they are. I need more direct info on what the site it. Why I'm there and why I care you know. Like what does current series mean? Its probably webisodes but why should it interest me. Maybe show the current series. Have the three boxes placed under the current series player. Put what the sites about higher up. Hope this helps. God luck!

    It's very manly.

I didn't notice the 'Squire: The training of the knight' under 'current series' the first couple times I looked at it. Maybe a bit more contrast between those two reds?

Same thing goes for 'events/photos/video' buttons.

    Maybe I'm just colorblind.
