The colors are nice. The image in the banner is less in contrast. The typos are well manged. There is more space before the footer..
just couple of issues
a) need to curtail down the height of the selected nav tab..its seems like i am climbing a brick
b) need to remove the lines placed on top and bottom of "current series"
c) can try the placement of the register button next to the "squire: " text instead on right...
d) why u have incorporate same action call (register btn) on both the places in homepage
rest is well done!!
Thanks for the thoughts Swarat. I could agree with you on the nav. I was trying to look quite a bit different from every other nav out there. It's a good point on the register button as well. I will take a look at all of the suggestions here, thanks again!
dark tan on tan and white on tan is hard to read. I'm on a mac so it is fainter than a pc.
I love the design I think it's perfect.
One thing could look nice to experiment with diff. fonts instead of verdana. Try Lucida Grande on. I have a style set I developed for the css so lucida grande can use bold and italic and look good on pc and ie too!
here it is:
font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;
strong, em, b, i { font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight:bold; }
Thanks for the feedback Daina, your not the first to mention the font. At this point the font will probably stick but for my next site I'll be sure and not use Verdana :)
Nice, clean design.
Not really much else to say about it, the only thing I would dare touching is the background colour. It's a bit too pastel/female in the middle. Add a slight hint of orange to the mix?
I really like what you have done with the site. Trendy and Medieval huh- tough jon but looks like you pulled it through.
1) Color Scheme needs to be more vibrant
2)Overall Site gives a good impression , however footer needs to integrate with middle part
Thank You

Nice website with clean format and colors. Its very engagin to offer some pics right off the homepage. Good to see that other pages are easy to read as well.
I like everything in this design like typography, grunge edges, vintage color scheme, scratches, call to actions etc but my only concern is "WELCOME TO MENS FRATERNITY" full caps text style not blending with the rest of the design if you change that into small caps it will be fantastic.
Improve register buttons design.
I really appreciate this because I did a sub-site for our church's Men's Frat program (http://mensfrat.lebefree.org). However I did not get much content to work with for ours.
Anyhow I think you hit a home run on this one.
I know the white font text has come up before but that's the only thing I wanted to mention. Nice work.
Hard task, but you´ve managed well. One thing, try an even more knight-like typeface for the "Knights of the..."-text, for example http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Rothenburg-Decorative
I agree with you, unfortunately I am tied to that specific font because it was used in previous marketing materials. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions though!
It's a great use of textures, and I love the header in particular, but the black brick texture and red callout box seem pretty stark compared to the pastel background. Pinkish-rose seems a slightly odd choice for a teenage male audience. Maybe a brownish earth tone instead?
Thanks for the feedback Kevin. Unfortunately, I am working off a color palette that has been used before in marketing materials and such. Thanks again for the feedback, I do appreciate it!
Hi there, Nate!
I love the design! You've managed to fuse trendy and medieval together quite nicely!
Maybe the only thing that I can think of is the spacing between the content and the footer: It's too large. Also, why not try to close the box of the "welcome to mens fraternity" section as it seems like it's hanging because of its slowly disappearing background.
But all in all, it's great!
Thanks a lot for the feedback Juan. You are right about the spacing issue. I posted the pic before I had a chance to fix that.
Based on the other comments and your responses, I feel you created a nice site.
Everything else is spot on! Try adding some of the knight feel to the highlight like a banner in a tournament or something. But a very original idea!
Thanks so much for the feedback. I will try some of those suggestions!
Nate, I don't have much to add. Rather, I've been voting up several comments already instead of rehashing them.
My only question is, can you submit some of the inside pages to get a better feel for how the entire site will look?
Good job.
I'll try and post some inside pages later, thanks for the feedback.
Looks really good, nothing stands out thats really bad. If i had to mess around and change things...
i'd try changing the pastel background, something a shade lighter to make a bit of contrast. the light red 'Current series' text could be a shade lighter. This is gonna sound weird but it's very 'Knight-y' at the top and turns more 21st century after the 3 boxes. Maybe a good medieval footer or font somewhere to make sure people get the brand idea. All really small ideas which probbbably aren't needed/won't look right. Should be really happy with the design, it's Awesome.
Aaah.. turns out my internet had conked and only loaded to the second 'register' button. Ignore what i said about the medievalness; the footer looks great. I'd try the red colour for the text down there, or maybe even the logo (which looks great btw). Could the three boxes on the footer be a bit darker like the three boxes further up? Definatedly move the footer up to remove the blank space.
Amazing Design
Good design, I was i had the ability and knowledge to create anything close to this.
Thanks for the feedback and the kind words. I assure you that I didn't always have the ability to create sites like this and often times wish I could better my skills. You can teach yourself pretty much anything now a days. The internet is a vast and endless resource :)
I don't feel like the colours aid in the combination of "trendy." However, I'm not sure what colours would. You got a tough job here, and it appears you did well with the concept. Nice work.
Thanks for the feeback Austin. Color palette is unfortunately not my choice since they used the colors in previous marketing materials and branding.
Everything looks pretty solid. I would just change the place of the REGISTER button on the home page banner.
In its current position, it makes me think it is part of the current series text. Is it supposed to be?
Thanks for your feedback Octavio. The register button is for registering for the current series.
This website is great. I love the theme and the colors, it all works really nicely together. I like that the color red highlights what page you are on, this is really strong. Overall very clean and pleasing to look at.
I would add more attractiveness.....for example on the Knights of the 21st Century image....I would preffer a closer view, with more details of a knight....a picutre that gives more sensation
I really think this is a do over unfortunately. Maybe make that knight image the full background and get rid if the bricks. The tabs are okay where they are. I need more direct info on what the site it. Why I'm there and why I care you know. Like what does current series mean? Its probably webisodes but why should it interest me. Maybe show the current series. Have the three boxes placed under the current series player. Put what the sites about higher up. Hope this helps. God luck!
It's just pretty cool. Its only something wrong with gray top bricks. Perhaps u need a lower contrast here.
I love it. Looks fantastic and suits the site perfectly. But as I said on your other concept - Verdana! Gah! It's not actually too bad in this site though...
Fantastic work!
Thanks for your thoughts Sam, my next site I'll try to not use Verdana :)
It's very manly.
I didn't notice the 'Squire: The training of the knight' under 'current series' the first couple times I looked at it. Maybe a bit more contrast between those two reds?
Same thing goes for 'events/photos/video' buttons.
Maybe I'm just colorblind.
haha, don't know if that's the reaction I wanted, but thanks for the thoughts!
Awesome use of colors and i like the layout. Its a big upgrade from whats up now.
your going in the right way.
i think need more design elements.
Thanks for the review Rajavel!
