I really like this new concept. You definitely tell it's a lemon. Concept number 1 looks the best out of these new ones. Simple is better. The one drop of milk works.

    I like most...

symbol 1, type 1 and 3 (use both versions). I think one drop of milk is enough, you don´t have shout MILK! with multiple drops. Also I like the symmetry. Your work looks very good!

I agree; I think the single drop makes the icon more iconic and symmetrical. Something about the 2-drop ones aren't as refined.

    Change placement of the drop

Posted on Nov 03, 2009 at 12:50 AM

OK. First, I like this logo, Gustavo -- particularly the one with the brownish background on the top right (and its companion to the left).

But if you were to try something different entirely, I wonder how it would look if the drop coming off the lemon were the milk drop? Basically, take the entire milk drop -- from top edge to the center drop -- and move it to the bottom portion of the lemon. I'm not sure if that makes sense.

Granted this would look better on a color background, but it still might be doable even on a white background.

    Anyway, just a thought.

Gustavo, I look forward to seeing it.

As for my suggestion, I guess what I'm trying to say is rather then the drop flowing down to the center of the lemon, what if the drop were positioned as if it were dripping from the bottom of the lemon -- as if the lemon had just been dunked in milk, and the remainder had collected along the bottom and started to drip?

    I like the simple one

Posted on Oct 28, 2009 at 11:30 AM

I like the simple one (number 1) but I didn't get the milk part until I saw number 2. Maybe there is a way to play up the milk drops in the rest of your branding?

Of course, now that I know it is milk, it is all I see. Perhaps the upward curves at the top of the lemon don't seem much like a shape that a milk drop would fall from... but I really like the sensous curve you have. it is unique and eye catching.

I don't think number 3 helps the milk idea very much. It just looks like the bottom part of the lemon got cut off.

I often think of bubbles in milk - see picture: http://tiny.cc/hbgSs

Here's another good milk drops/dunking in milk photo for inspiration: http://tiny.cc/MrUAF

I am enjoying the progression of this logo! Look forward to the next round.

I just saw you updated some pictures - I like the middle one of the latest 3 that you posted. (Where there are 2 drips on either side of the center of the lemon).

Thanks. I doesn't look orange to me, though it's not the "lemon" color because it wouldn't look very good.. So it's a midterm of aesthetics with realism. About the second version, it looks more obvious, but I like the "C" shape from the first one, which means Communication,

OH I GET IT, THE WHITE PART IS MILK!

Posted on Oct 28, 2009 at 8:23 AM

Your first concept definitely did not look like milk dripping over the lime. The second concept here is starting to make more sense. I agree with Alan that this clearly looks like a lime and not an orange. You won't be able to fix that until you change the colors though. I would also make the milk A LOT more evident, it's far too subtle right now.

Color is much better. For some reason I don't like the trips very much. I would make it so that a wave of milk is hiding part of the lemon. Or how about the lemon floating in milk. Both those concepts can be very subtle but I'm not a huge fan of the subtle drops.

The colors are much better, now you have me thinking lemon. I am not a huge fan of the subtle milk drops. I would try something like a wave of milk covering the lemon or even the lemon floating in a river of milk. I love subtle logos as well but I think that is too subtle.

By know you are realizing that I am a super picky and a perfectionist driven person. I still don't think you've hit it here. The concept labeled as "3" is still the strongest. If your going to do a milk wave I would make it fast moving wave with lots of splashes and drips. Secondly I think you need some sort of very light shadow detail that shows the lemon is in the milk. Right now it looks like you just erased the lemon. Don't get me wrong, the third concept is a really great logo and very well. Don't feel like you have to please me, if you think it works and you get others that are saying it works, go with it.

    Color and Typography

Posted on Nov 04, 2009 at 9:01 PM

I have to say that I liked the previous version, the one with the gradients.

I think this yellow it's pretty saturated and hard to look at. Perhaps you want to try using the same gradient style but this time play around from intense yellow to a more desaturated light green, shifting to a "Lime" color palette.

I think the type needs some work too, and discard the 'Lima' on top of 'Leite' because it gets too 'busy'.

Basically, i'd go with nº1 proposal for logo and nº1 proposal for text (single line).

Hope it helps! Cheers from Argentina.

I forgot... maybe you also want to try using a dark background and let the logo shape contrast to it correctly. This definetely will pop the colors!

    Alignments of lemon to type.

Posted on Nov 11, 2009 at 6:23 PM

    Hi Gustavo,

I like the bottom left one the most. I would just maybe bring the lemon closer to the type and size it up to align left and right to the second line of text.

My choice: symbol 1, Type 1.

I would imagine keeping the drip white, chocolate or strawberry. If you decide to keep it transparent... will it have the same effect on a purple background? So having this logo transparent I believe will limit your background colors.

Have you tried a few other concepts? Such as a whole lemon in an old glass milk bottle? Or a lemon symbol inside a cows tummy? or two lemons on each side of a cows head as though squeezing it? or balancing it on his head? or instead of a cowbell a lemon?

I right away thought a better solution for this drip would be as Jackson suggested.

I think if the background won't be white, It helps the concept to keep the milk in white. I like the top one with the single drop, kept in white. The only thing about that is that it makes the logo different from the white-background version, which might not be good for continuity. It also loses its subtle "a-ha!" moment. I wonder what others think about the background dilemma?
