    Less detailed umbrella

I would make the umbrella less detailed. I like the concept and choice of font type though. Keep workin' on this, you have a good direction.

Thanks so much for your review. A few reviews have popped up, saying 'umbrella less detailed.' Do you think you can please elaborate a bit? Because I swear I've made the umbrella as simple as I thought possible, if the shape changes more it would probably look like half a lollipop.

Aaa don't worry, I will keep working on this. Designing logos is way harder than I thought!

I would get rid of the bow/eyes on top of the umbrella. Simplify the handle to being just solid black and thin it out. After that, I think you might have a winner here.

looks a bit too "clip artish"

I would suggest that you work on the umbrella. Try and make the art more suggestive rather than literal. Using less detail is a good place to start.

By 'suggestive rather than literal' I'm guessing you mean to make something look like the umbrella rather than an actual one? If that's what you meant, then I was thinking I could use a flower as the umbrella head or a toadstool, or leaving the umbrella part out and just having the ribbon as the umbrella if you know what I mean.

Shoot me if someone's already come up with that T_T I imagine its very likely. But thanks for your review. Much appreciated.

    Get a better umbrella

Posted on Oct 28, 2009 at 11:45 AM

I think the umbrella looks clip-arty too. I doesn't remind me of victorian parasols (fancy umbrellas).

Also, when i think of fairytale and victorian, I think of overly ornate decorations, like flower motifs and lace. Not that you would want a hyper detailed icon for a logo, but it seems like it needs some more whimsy.

Of these, I prefer the first one, for its proportions. I would keep sketching umbrellas in different orientations to see what kind of variations you can come up with that are more interesting.

Check out this google image search for inspiration: http://tiny.cc/cYm8j

PS - I think the font choice could work - it has a fanciful quality to it while still being modern.

    umbrella

As others already mentioned, too clip arty. I like the first one most, maybe you need a more "victorian" font to go with it.

To me Fertigo and Fontin equal food (can´t explain why...).
