    text alignment

Posted on Oct 24, 2009 at 10:48 PM

Align all text to left, a tiny part in the middle is now aligned center.

It looks good now with that colorful image on top, but I think you should look at it as (and also upload here) a version where that area is grey. Then it would be easier to see what the design itself is missing (or not).

What is that typeface, it´s nice?

      Hej Miro,

The centered text is just for seeing how the typography works. All the text in main content area will be left aligned.

The header is a slide show where I exhibit some of my work. I made this version online. You can find it here http://ucarmetin.com/demo/02/

hope the online version would make easier to criticize.

      thanks.

seems like we commented at the same time. well, the typefaces I used are the following ones:

Logo: Delicious Menu: Museo Rest: it's a font stack based on helvetica/arial sans serif. You can find it here: http://articles.sitepoint.com/article/eight-definitive-font-stacks/2

Tack, Delicious was the one I was looking at, it looks really good.

I was looking at the online version, yes, but there you also have a colorful rainbow image. It´s only that in the future you may have a image of a very white or grey site there and then this design may look very different.

Oops, sorry, just noticed the carousel with a grey image on top on your site... now I say: consider using some color on the layout, maybe the same blues as in the bottom links.

I'll flavour the layout with more blue and some icons (particularly, on main content area). hope that would work. We'll see how it'll turn out. thanks.

Comment about version /03: The header looks really good now, add some weight to the html-headers and I think it will look quite ready.

    2nd concept strongest

Posted on Oct 26, 2009 at 8:33 AM

Good work so far. I like the second concept the best. I think you need to make the bottom content area match the top better, not even sure how to tell you to that though :). The logos at the bottom need to be a lot smaller...A LOT SMALLER.

Good work on this though, I think you have a great direction!

Try to use actual content rather than lorem ipsum?

Posted on Oct 24, 2009 at 10:06 PM

I like the typography, the overall simplicity and the main graphic image. I'm not quite certain of the purpose though, and so I feel like I'm not drawn in.

My next click would be either About, Services or Portfolio to get a better idea of who you are and what you do. Perhaps you could add three small icons with a consistent treatment and a paragraph for each of them here on the Home Page to help guide the user deeper into the site?

I think the social media icons look good, but they feel a bit too large. Overall, nice work...

I'll think on your suggestion about menu items.

That's what I think when it comes to flavour the main content area, three icons and some text to direct users to sub pages.

      thanks for the critics.

Hello Metin, I was writing a followup to your comments but I lost what I was writing because of a problem with my browser... I hope I can remember what I was writing.

I really like demo #3 the best. The dark header area really anchors the design, and the gradients and drop shadow adds depth and visual appeal. This treatment really draws my eyes in and highlights your design work.

When I wrote my initial comments and review, I didn't see the links, so I did not go to the demo and the review was based on the concept mockup -- I really think it helps to see the design 'in action' and interact with the page.

...sorry, that's all I can remember, the other suggestions I was trying to make are lost in the ether :-|

I really like your style, and your work is really good -- I'm interested in seeing the final design. Hope you found my comments helpful.
