The measuring tape also add a level

Posted on Oct 24, 2009 at 1:07 AM

Hey, looks good. I like the font and how it seems to be drawn with a ruler. I would put measuring tape beside the letter A, facing directly at the user (now its on an angle) and extend the tape all the way to "J". I think a level on top, covering the letters D, J, U, would be a good addition. Hope that helps.

    A bit childish, and over-detailed.

The logo is over-detailed. The colors make it a bit childish, I would use more serious colors. It's a good start, but there is much more to improve.

    Color...Maybe.

    Hi Tyler,

I like your concept. I love the way you did the type here. I don't mind the tape measure in it's current state, it adds depth.

I do agree that maybe some more color variations to compare.

Maybe Pencil led color grey for ADJUST and black for the construction part. That way we can still see the cool effect that you have going on with your type and it will still match the tape measure. Or even construction site orange for CONSTRUCTION and led color for ADJUST. Then change the tape measure to that orange as well to match?

Just to compare, This blue reminds me of some type of drafting paper, yet, if your going in that direction maybe a bit more translucent on the blue? Only of course to compare.

Also try pulling the tape measure down so it's under the type. If you want it on top, I think it needs to seem more fitting (angle wise) to the type. Maybe even try having the tape measure hang on to the T limb instead?

I think it would be nice to see several variations of this concept, so others can share their opinions on what looks coolest.

I think this is a great concept.

    Consistent elements & realism

Posted on Nov 04, 2009 at 5:17 PM

Try playing with the sketch effect in Illustrator on the word "ADJUST" to give it a more realistic blueprint look. The shades of blue you chose are perfect for it.

I did a similar effect for a client of mine who is also a construction company. Here's an Illustrator (CS4) file of it ... feel free to use the same sketch settings:

Also, maybe outline "construction" with a darker yellow or making the fill darker.

I agree with Miro about the tape measure. You should keep everything 2D. Try doing a simple outline of the tape measure to the left of "ADJUST" and have the tape underline "ADJ" and end at "construction"

    or

Extend the "J" so the bottom reaches the bottom of "construction". Then have the tape underline end at the "J".

    Good Start

I like the font that you used for adjust. The word construction is barely readable. Is that an illustrated tape measure of a picture? In any case it looks too much like a picture. I would flatten it a bit and not use a drop shadow.

great idea. the design kinda empty.

idea is great. the design itself is kind of empty and boring mayby try background of adjusting paper or roller and pencil. anything to make it be more alive/

    tape measure

Posted on Oct 23, 2009 at 2:06 PM

This looks good, I would try to make the tape measure a 2d picture to better go with the rest of the logo.
