    WAY TOO BUSY!

Posted on Oct 21, 2009 at 8:17 AM

I would try and tone this site down a bit. There is just entirely too much too look at. I know you have a lot of content to fit in but I would try and organize it differently. The add placement is also working against you as that is the first place I focus. You also have some alignment issues.

Thanks for the feedback. Are you able to clarify what you mean by alignment issues? Do you have an example? Thanks!

The easiest alignment issue to point out is where the ads are placed. You have two very defined columns for the ads but then directly above them the buttons don't line up with your columns. I am not saying that everything needs to be exactly in line, but I think there are few places where that is happening. Often times you are using 3 different grid structures for the header, content area and footer when you should really be working off one.

    alignment, branding

As stated before, I think working on a more consistent grid would help this layout a lot. Otherwise, I think it's clean as far as having a hierarchy. The header could be more interesting and related to the topic.

    I think you're dead on

If the purpose is to present an online magazine, blog style, I like the overall look and feel. Easy to navigate, intuitive, and the stories stand out accordingly.

    Banner and Background

Posted on Oct 21, 2009 at 6:14 PM

Overall I like the design It flows pretty well everything is constructed well, the thing I would work on however would be the background, maybe add more on it? sorta just seams dull and boring?

The second thing I'd work on is the top banner, it just screams boring gradient with anouter glow on the add up there.

Try to maybe fine tune the edges with a 1px line to sharpen it up. Perhaps

    Busy

Posted on Oct 21, 2009 at 7:50 AM

It seems very busy especially with all the ads, is it neccessary to have all those ads on one page? If not I would suggest trimming a couple of them back so you have more real estate to spread your design out.
