Needs more color and better readability

Posted on Oct 19, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Some of the readability on this site is in need of some improvement. I can hardly read the content on the bottom. You also need some more colors other than just the blue. This is a great start but needs some work still.

You also may not be able to do anything with the logo, but it needs redone for sure. It doesn't match the caliper of the site.

    Keep up the good work!

    Too much dark blue

Posted on Oct 19, 2009 at 1:13 PM

I like the overall concept, but I would rather use some brighter blue colors to make the site more appealing. Right now it reminds me more of a deep water.. uhm.. diving company?

The call-to-action button should stand out more and the text could use a brighter color? Maybe a plain white or #CCCCCC?

The minor rotation on the image is a cool effect to create a out-of-the-box feeling, but in this case I would rather keep it straight.

    more colors

Looks quite good, but I would add more sporty bright colors. For example, I would try yellow as on the boat.

Thanks I like the idea of yellow, all of SeaDoo's boats are very bright -- reds, yellows, etc. It would be nice to pull some of these bright colors from the boats into the design also.

    Boats ride on top

Posted on Oct 19, 2009 at 2:09 PM

Hey it's a nice effect, but boats ride on top of the water so not sure why your background is a shot of under the water.

The design is clean and nice, however it's really dark, and as Nate commented there is going to be readability issues.

It would look better if the background image was a sea scape, more on the top of the water though. And the blue box make it less see-through, this will help with readability issues.

It's on the right track, so keep working on it.

    Good luck!

    text readability

Posted on Oct 19, 2009 at 2:12 PM

The only problem I have with this site, is that the blog post text is sort of hard to read. I'd make it a lighter blue. i like the navigation though.

    Agree with the readability issues

Posted on Oct 19, 2009 at 4:18 PM

I think everything below the header (including the register box) needs to be brightened up a little...

I also agree that the underwater scene looks cool, but doesn't necessarily have relevance in this scenario..

Lastly, if you are sticking to the under water scene, use some more underwater elements, like coral to bring more color into the site...

    Great start though!

    Too much blue

Posted on Oct 19, 2009 at 4:42 PM

Except the blue overdoe it's nice. Maybe I'll increase the typo height.

    Nice job.

Cool that there is a blog. Make sure to keep it updated regular as that will help the brand. They say at least one daily post the better. Box in the blog area. Make the text on the right larger including the button. Maybe have a video in the upper right discussing the benefits of registering. people are coming to buy Seadoos right? i think you should have less words and more photos of what they can purchase. State what you do right away. I can't tell from your current site or this mock up if you are a blog with resources, manufacturer or a dealer. Love the light shining down at the top center on the blue. think about having less than more buttons. Let me know what you do and that will help me give better feedback. Excited for you :)

    color

Posted on Oct 19, 2009 at 10:39 AM

I like the way it looks under water. With all the blue in the background, the content in the front seems to blur in the background. Try some other colors to make things pop out, like the register button.
