your design is very clean, modern, contemporary. it's nicely created and uses space very well. . .
my main issues involve the lack of life and personality with the site. i understand it's a blog and that you re posting freebies, etc. but it doesnt seem to reflect who you are. even though I dont know who you are!
the graphics you used are nice, modern and sleek, but not very original.
im abit confused about the "vagrantradio" part as it's about design and nothing is audible.
i guess in short, there is nothing inherently wrong or off about your design - it's just that i feel like there could be a lot more personality and a whole lot of "you" represented in the blog.
you're important! this is your site! lets have it reflect you!
I understand the subdued design better now - so I'd agree that the way you have it currently it does focus more on the content. . .
I'd want to clarify the name in some way. perhaps a tagline as it's easy and accessible? there are a few ways to accomplish that. . . i can understand having a name originally and having it carry over through the years - but not entirely connecting today. . .
adding something about how it's design would help for sure - but it's pretty apparent with your posts. . . your choice I suppose!
i would still remove that subdued red star though - it doesnt seem to help at all - and maybe detracts from your name. . .
i enjoy the seamless BG you used - victorian patterns look nice on modern designs ;-)
I agree completely about the name and the star. They are something I have used and repeated in many of it's designs.
I'm working towards going freelance eventually and it goes to show that the name is everything!
Beautiful... don't make any changes this works extremely well!
Full points, for Design, Purpose, Originality and Engagement...
Great Work, you have inspired me...
Just for the record... Your site just became one of my fav's... great work...
I really like how clean the design is, but I feel like it's lacking in some colors that could give it more life. Nice pattern for the background :D
I know you probably don't care for a critique on you logo but I would drop the star. I like the site very much. I nice clean and organized blog that is easy to read and navigate. Simple is better with a blog and I think you accomplished that here. Well done!
Actually Nate,
That's the second time the logo has come up, and I agree. Thanks for the review.
Its a very neat and clean design... however one thing i noicted when i clicked on the website was the load time... it took a while, maybe its just my internet connection, but i have had a problem with any other website.
Thanks Mike,
It looks like my cache plug-in wasn't working correctly, but I have noticed some load time performance issues that I'm working on.
It's a nice site, the only thing I would try to do is add a bit more color to the text in the right sidear, probably making the links into the red color.
Thanks for your opinion Freddie. When designing the site I had actually made the links in the sidebar red, but decided to scale them back to a lighter color.
I might try changing them to red, what about the buttons in the user submitted section? Red also?
i love the design of your portal..the only concren is the bg bit dark...u might use some strip pattern or bit of imaginery may be a image of urs in the background(faded)...
Thanks for your input Shane,
The site is not intended to be about me, more of a resource site than my personal site. The content is important, and I wanted to showcase that.
You're right about the name VagrantRadio not conveying design, when I started the site many years ago it was actually used for a streaming radio site, but the name kinda became my alias and I've used it for years.
Should I add a tag line underneath the logo to convey something about design?
