    I love it!

I love the images and the continuity you've maintained throughout all aspects of the site.

If I was to change one thing, I would stylize the yellow bar at the bottom to match the style of the top bar, (maybe lighter) using the same font.

Besides that, you got gold. Good work!

Hey Farshad, thanks. When you say style the yellow bar like the top one, do you mean make it brown (or browner)? The font is the same; it's just lowercase rather than uppercase. All uppercase might be a bit hard to read for a call to action that long, and it wouldn't fit on the screen either at 1024x768 (:

Well, I'd say make it Orange-Brown (around #D55F2F).

I also think if you have the bar starting from the left side as opposed to the right side and ending in a bulb (like the header) only smaller and ending just before the gun image it would look quite nice..

So you would have two brownish bars, that go in opposite directions...

Maybe you've already thought of that or tried it, but I think it would blend quite well with the current design.

      Hope that helps. :)

IMHO, I'd be afraid it would compete too much with the nav bar to make it orange/brown. Right now I think it's a nice pop of the yellow, using the same aesthetic as the nav bar. Doesn't get lost, doesn't distract.

I like the substance of this page. Great concept and the words ar very well chosen.

Nice textures and nice logo, everythings works fine.

May be there is too much of orange / red / yellow which can be hard for my eyes if i stare it for a long time :)

    Good work

Unfortunately the only thing I could change isn't possible, so I'm just here to voice some props. Awesome design, colors and use of typography. Looking forward to seeing the complete site.

    Looks good

i like your logo and the colors you used quite a bit. I like the old school kind of grunge look you have going on as well. This design is definitely slanting towards your copy writing skills, so if that is what you want, it's working. I'm not sure about the yellow box or the information highwayman placement. Looks good, keep refining it though.

    call to action box...

...could be a bit smaller. I'm not a big fan of using guns as metaphor but you've designed a real beauty!

    orange and purpose

Posted on Oct 14, 2009 at 3:10 PM

The design is very engaging. It gets your attention. But concern #1 is that I have to read a good bit to figure out what you do. And still I don't know what kind of design you do.

Concern #2 is the amount of orange used together at the top. The logo, the nav bar, the who I am intro, the big header, the gun. Maybe make the logo text and the who I am text match the body copy color to break it up a little.

Great work so far. Just needs some refining. Love the conversational style, but still needs to be quickly informative/scannable rather than having to read the whole narrative.

I want to see this coded!

Posted on Oct 14, 2009 at 6:53 PM

I kind of wish there were more pages to critique. The landing page looks good as it is. However, the call to action is bothering me. Instead of using "click here" (which, to me, is so generic) you could try something that matches the tone of the rest of your copy.

I'm not too found of the yellow banner being abruptly cut off. One suggestion is "wrapping" it like the title backgrounds of this site: http://www.from-the-couch.com/

It doesn't have to be that extreme but I hope you get the idea. If you don't like that solution, at least give it the same treatment as the beginning of the banner.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the whole site fully coded!

Btw, that there is a pretty ampersand. Just sayin'.

Thanks Corinne. This image is actually a screenshot of the HTML5-coded page; it's just not up on the web anywhere yet.

I'm also not that big on "click here", but I used it because I want it to be as clear as possible (and research shows that despite it being rather generic, it really does result in more clicks). I previously tried other verbs but nothing really sat right with me.

It looks like the call to action is the one thing that most people think needs tweaking, so I'll have to play around with some options (:

Thanks for everyone's input so far. Even if I haven't responded to your personally, I have appreciated all your comments, and taken them on board.

    Great typography

Posted on Oct 15, 2009 at 11:26 AM

Great use of type and color. Not sure if you're planning on adding a second color, but it might be good so CTA's stick out.

What's that small paragraph above the big type? Seems lost.
