    The second one is better

Posted on Oct 11, 2009 at 7:16 AM

The first one looks like an airline or travel agency logo to me. I'd continue with the second one. Maybe stylize the bucket a bit more and remove the surrounding black stripes.

      ...and reposition the text.

Now that you mention it, it does quite remind me of an airline logo. I'm leaning towards the second one at the moment. I would however have a problem with a small version of the second like metan ucar rightly mentioned. I will have to modify it slightly for the smaller version as I will lose a lot of detail.

      Thank you for the feedback!

    I like the second concept

Posted on Oct 11, 2009 at 12:06 PM

The second concept is really slick. I like the colors the only thing I question is the colors...they don't really say "The Indian Artist" to me. I would try and bring the culture into the logo a little bit. I think the latter concepts have too much culture in them. I like having the full name below the letters but I don't like the shape you have it on. Good work on this so far, looks promising.

When I think of an Indian color scheme, I think of deep reds, oranges, and yellows.. and maybe a bit of bronze. These colors are unfortunately over used in Indian matrimony sites and they aren't the colors I would like to use throughout my site. I totally get where you're coming from as the colors themselves lack meaning, but I think it is an acceptable sacrifice to make the site more distinct and more aesthetically appealing.

Thank you for the feedback though :)

I'm glad that it seems you have thought through all of that. In that case I think the green was working for you.

    smaller sizes

Posted on Oct 11, 2009 at 2:43 PM

Both concepts look fairly good. I like the second version of the first concept. The idea behind and its design complete each other. The colour look pretty as well. The second one is an original concept. there's no doubt about that. However, I do wonder, how would it look when you shrink it? let's say for favicon, printing, etc?

If I were you and weight both concept, I'd go for the second version of the first concept.

It did occur to me that a small version of the second logo would lose a lot of detail, but I'm still leaning towards the second logo because the first to me (now) and some other people is reminiscent of airlines' and travelagents' logos and that is not something I like.

For the small version, I think a map outline of india (like the current version) with a colored brush stroke with the same colors used in the big version as opposed to the intricate detail would make sense... what do you think?

p.s. Thank you for the feedback..

Yeah, that could work out well. but what will you do with the bucket then?

      you're more than welcome.

I would really like to keep the bucket and be true to the larger concept, but it would look like a 2x2 black pixel block in the small version. I think it would be acceptable to just.. lose the bucket..fortunately, the bucket isn't the main focus of the logo even in the enlarged version.

well, then you might consider dropping the bucket from the concept. just give it a try with and without the bucket, and then post it again. thus, it'd be much easier and convenient to comment on.

      good luck.

      I might just do that.

Though, it is Monday, and I have to do this in my spare time, so it would take a couple days to have that version, and a few other concepts ready.

      I ABHOR Mondays!!

fix the last letter to make it look more like an 'A'

Posted on Oct 11, 2009 at 3:28 PM

I like the first version - but the A looks a bit like the letter N.

    too modern

Posted on Oct 11, 2009 at 6:51 PM

these are all really nice designs, however they just seem way to modern to me.

maybe try something a little more old school, the last two are getting there but they are still too busy..

you are on the right track, I believe that you need to do some more concepts.

    more indianie

Posted on Oct 12, 2009 at 8:37 AM

the first design is a washout and looks really generic, the second design is better but i'd like to see more cultural influences in there (if its for an international market) if its just internal to india then go with it

The site primarily caters to the Indian market, and I am currently favoring the second style.

For curiosity's sake, what kind of cultural influences in particular would you like to see in there?

      Thank you for the feedback.

    the whole logo

Posted on Oct 12, 2009 at 10:28 AM

this logo is simply not right for the market. It's more like an airline or corporate logo.

It needs to look indian, more ethnic and arty.

Going with a Futuristic logo would be wrong.

You need to look into indian art it self, especially logos etc..

Haniff din is right, you should change direction. There's nothing Indian in there.
