Your site is super clean and to the point which is AWESOME. Just make sure to display buttons where you are on Facebook, Twitter etc. Plus have a email sign up form in your upper right for a newsletter.

    Donate to Cause arrow

Posted on Oct 07, 2009 at 1:41 PM

The site is very clear. Shoot, donate, give hope. Great job with that. I'd recommend keeping the arrow at the end of Donate to Cause at the bottom. Gives the sense of moving forward.

Other than that I'd play with the shadows a bit more on the top box. Too dark on the right with the corners cut off, it just doesn't blend too well.

Good feedback, I'll work with the shadows on the top box. I'm torn on putting the arrow on donate button but I'll give it a try. Thanks again for the feedback, very helpful!

    Gray

Posted on Oct 07, 2009 at 1:49 PM

Very professional, you know what you are doing. Only thing is, should the box "Give hope" be other color than gray. Hope is not gray, hope is colorful?

Great suggestion Gray, never even thought about that. I think it works much better the other way. You can see my changes above!

I like it better now too. Maybe you should change the colors of arrows at the bottom too - to be consistent.

    text on gray box

Posted on Oct 07, 2009 at 4:01 PM

I really like it! I think you nailed it with the design. One think though; the gray text on the gray box (everything under filling the details) is not very visible, I would make it darker, unless that was your intention.

BTW how do I change my profile picture?

    Good call to action.

Posted on Oct 08, 2009 at 9:11 AM

Good design and very clear call to action. Although, the grey part seems to have less "value" than the others. I think the second version does it better.

Thanks for the review Bert. I actually wanted less value on the details section. Most everything they need to know is provided in the header and the call to action part below the header.Thank again!

    Contrast

Posted on Oct 08, 2009 at 11:36 AM

My only issue is contrast...especially in the text. That blends a little TOO closely, and I'm thinking, too, of elderly people who might want to donate (especially being that they have the most disposable income as a rule).

    Make it easier to read.

I'd also experiment with the Give Hope part pointing to a child? Might drive the point home even further?

Use the dark blue from the ornament on the flag of India for something. You used green and orange....

The repeated buttons on the bottom should be the same colours as the ones on top.

Great design and outlines what the site is about. Shoot Hoops - Donations - Give Hope. Colors choice are great alogn with the layout. The top is such a nice design that it makes the gray box with gray text seem not important.

The header is very nice how the transparent bar goes behind the childs image.

I think it is rather straight to the point in a fun way. The question is are the Shoot, Donate and Give hope meant to be click able buttons. if they are then create small click able buttons at the below the text area in each arrow. All the best

    kerning

Posted on Oct 11, 2009 at 6:03 PM

    Hi Nate,

I think the picture you have chosen for this is lovely.

Look out, for under the title section "shoot hoops" I think you forgot to add an s to the word student.

I agree with one of the above about that the text here is hard to read. Maybe if you open up the kerning a bit it will read better. Or maybe a serif typeface would make all the difference.

    Nice colors.

    Great Design, Improve CTAs

Posted on Oct 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM

Great design, hierarchy, and photo. My only gripe is that I don't know what to do next. At a glance, nothing looks clickable. No buttons, no phone number, no "here's what to do".

Change the grey on grey text

Posted on Oct 21, 2009 at 2:24 AM

The grey text on grey background makes it a little dull and difficult to read. The text is also a little heavy, maybe add a call out box or quote to break it up a bit? Otherwise good job!

    The text contrast

Posted on Oct 25, 2009 at 2:20 AM

First, I would like to make clear that I'm not a professional designer. Far from that, I'm just a beginer.

I found the design amazing. The colour scheme was really well chosen, but one thing that I would change is the background colour of the "Filling in the details" text, making it lighter.

But everything is really great, amazing job!

color of "Shoot free throws" title text

Posted on Nov 06, 2009 at 5:57 PM

Looks good. I'd change the tagline color to stand out a little more, but it isn't really bad as is.

Also, navigation might be a little unclear, but as long as there are adequate rollover indicators to indicate where people can go, it should be good.

Like the way you were able to accomplish simplicity while still being engaging and edgy. Nice!

    The button arrow thingys

Posted on Nov 21, 2009 at 9:12 AM

hey man over all i think this site looks awesome. I might change the button arrows to be a bit more attractive. also i think the content could be split into 1 bigger column and 1 smaller column to the right.
