The header of your site is very big vertically leaving few space for content! New Idea Arial here? Try to take a look at google webfonts or @font-face and use a font that makes the difference!! -

Not sure Arial would do it here. But I'm open to other suggestions. Choosing fonts is always a tough decision - at least for me - as there are just too many from which to choose.

We certainly do have social icons at the header and the footer. But the screenshots don't reflect this for some strange reason as i mentioned in my general comments.

With the way you have your design, if it was me editing it... I'd divide the underfooter in 3 and put the social icons in the center div! See the last website I did http://jb.utad.pt/ (use the translate button on top right corner to better see the site)

It takes a good bit of work to implement, definitely not a quicky and easy effect.

Oh I see in Firefox those icons slide up and down. Is that the effect you meant? The sliding effect is the use of the sprite combined with this:
-moz-transition-duration: 0.12s;
The styles are embedded right now because I've been adding styles through the theme's web interface. It's more convenient to stay in the browser while making changes. I'll move the styles to an external stylesheet when the design is all done.
2 nice hover effect here as well Summary:
Hey Charles - Great site, just kidding about it being WP. Is it your own theme or did you tweak an existing one? I love the jQuery hover effects. In fact, what is the jQuery effect called that you are using for the social media icons hover effect? Is it the same "hoverIntent" you're using for the navigation and logo effects? Great color combos, typography is ok.
Here are my suggestions:
- I know its on a dev/staging site for now, but it is painfully slow in loading
- perhaps add some sort of texture or sight gradient to the page background. The all black is a little stale.
- great slide show effects
- the footer area is really cramped with content and having the social media in both the header and footer is overkill and the aren't aligned with each other

I particularly like your comment about adding some sort of texture or gradient to break up the monotony of the all-pervasive black. I was strongly considering doing this. And now you've confirmed my inclination.
In fact I added a different gradient in the footer. But I guess it isn't enough.
The slowness of the site will disappear once its uploaded to my servier once the site is completed.
And I'll have my developer weigh-in regarding the hover effects. I saw this on another site and felt it was such a neat effect to have on our site. So I had him duplicate it.

Hey Charles
I really like this big bold design, it en-captures the boldness of the artists that you have on the site. My only critique would be that this type of big and in your face design would look way better in twitter bootstrap, and have a grid of say 1140 as opposed to 960, thus eliminating the scroll on the homepage, and giving the main nav a bit more white space.
the colours are a nice contrast, I'm not overly excited about the all caps in the main nav, maybe if you used a google webfont and made it lighter, it might work better. Actually the font of the headings would work better.
Content blocks seem to be a wide and the font weight too heavy, I'd also increase the line height slightly.
Overall a bold and well planned design, a few tweaks and you'll be sweet!

All the fonts and writing are a bit bold and large. Gives it a slightly less formal look. There is a lot of stuff going on here but overall it seems to flow. I would consider making all your aspect slightly smaller and giving the site a bit of clean space.
