I'm involved with a startup called Campus Bubble, a social web application that filters students’ lives for what they care most about: nearby events, cheap food, and online content from students and organizations on campus.
The site needs to handle lots of content, lots of interactivity, and lots of usage while still be fun, easy, and addictive to use. I've included two mockups of the first two features, Find and Buzz.

Going off the image - maybe to complicated, as in the elements have to much going on. Again nitty picky. The link provided is fine tho, maybe I need to click through and check each page.
too wide for the average monitor, but its up to you. Some people wont the wider monitor audience and its hard to go by stats on monitor size - just saying.
I don't like hte font here - it's hard to read, and looks a bit too "techie".
While I'm pretty sure that Headliners and Tonight are probably horizontally aligned, it doesn't look like they are, maybe because of the rop down button?
Geat use of fonts
For me the fonts just work, the white chunky text on the images looks great.
Looks fun, buzzy, generates exictement - this is good
I like how you've taken into account the "F" approach - it seems people scan websites in an F shape, so on this, Tonight and Headliners would be read first, and then the rest of tonight would be read - whcih in my view is perfect - well done.
Overall, I really like the layout, the colours, the fonts, the images and the strategy - comes across as very "buzzy". As someone who was recently a student, I can honestly say this would appeal to me - so good job.
