We have two competing designs that we'd like feedback on. They are in the images below. The two competing are the "more purple" and the "more gray". I really, really need help on this as we have yet to attain design consensus within our office.
Is design responsive? The square boxes lend themselves well to a flexible layout. There shouldn't be that much empty space on either side of the screen. Add/Remove # of listings based on browser width.
Unclear Value Prop
Is this your home page? If so, then it is not clear enough what you do/offer. Put a heading at the top to help me understand what I'm viewing.
Nice layout on option 2
The 2nd "gray" layout has a cleaner layout. It's far less cluttered than the first.
Search filter on option 1 is good
The search filter above the listings on option1 is better than the second.
BG skyline is distracting
Why the bg skyline? It seems like an attempt at a not-so-subtle design touch that really adds nothing to the user experience.
An intriguing site, but what is it? Honestly I wonder if the team is so caught up in "more purple" and "more gray" that they're forgetting to make the offering clear. Have the web team go to their local Starbucks and ask 5 random people for honest feedback.
