The badI know you said a lot will be changed but here's what I don't like about it right now. basically: -the logo (top left) -the phrase ("one planet...") -The other phrase ("$1 dollar") especially since that means 1 dollar dollar.

Small windowThat small window you are leaving for content looks to be quite small. I hope you don't plan to show too much content in there.

green/blue one is the better of the twoBetween the 2 layouts I definitly like the more colorful/playful green blue design.
| Minor Problem | |
Use of dollar signsEvokes greed; Maybe you want that but again, that's not good for appealing to a "broad set of users"
| Critical Problem | |
Main sloganToo difficult to read; doesn't stand out enough
In answer to all of your questions: the first (colorful) one.
The second concept strikes me immediately as too dark, and dark does not jive well with anything that evokes images of Earth (i.e. "planet"). Dark also does not bode well for anything you want to be fun or social for a "broad set of users"
Thanks Chris, really useful feedback. Much appreciated.
While the colorful version of the concept is more visually appealing, it is very hard to read the copy/headline. My eyes are confused about where they are supposed to go. Simplifying the imagery would go a long way in helping make your purpose clear to the user.

Second desgin is betterThe Second Design is better in my opinion because it is cleaner and my focus gets to the content and not only to the header. The second design is more trustworth. You should bring the social effekt from the first one to the second one. The second does not show the social feeling.
Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it!
