Minor Problem on whatdidyouget_1.png 1 I'd capitalize "Because". I realize that you didn't because you didn't want people to think there was a link "Just" and a link "Because" ... instead I'd recommend spreading out the spacing between the individual links. If you keep the spacing normal between the words "Just" and "Because" then it will show solidarity for that being it's own link. DIY....Her....Him....Just.Because....Kids....Meaningful (dots representing spaces) Serious Problem on whatdidyouget_1.png 1 Keeping in mind that the reader reads in a Z pattern. You might want the Introduction part to be earlier in that Z pattern.... for instance move it to the other side of the page. Also, this element is repeated on every page. Something with that consistency usually is left in the footer. You don't need the Welcome section on any page except your home page really. New Idea on whatdidyouget_1.png 1 I'd recommend having some sort of navigation indicator that lets the visitor know which page they are currently on. While I love your design in general, I'm not crazy about how the buttons look. I'd try to keep them all the same size, even though the words are different in length. I'm not sure what else to suggest... there is just something missing...icons maybe?? 2 This is awesome! I'm only concerned it will be overlooked. On average, the way visitors read content is in a Z. So, they might not see it quick enough. I find that because I am a social network user, when I find a site that I like, I immediately want to follow it. I'd suggest moving this section higher and maybe hooking it to the middle of the blue bar at the top... I'll tag the spot I'm thinking of as a new idea. 3 NEW IDEA: Maybe hang the social icons here so they can really get noticed. 4 I'd take this logo and make a favicon for your website. Take out the letters and put the gift right in the middle of the cloud. Or just use the gift box.... Mess around and get yourself a cool icon for your audiences bookmark bar. (It's like advertising on their browser) 5 Call to action buttons are a great way to get valuable content seen. I'd recommend using more buttons like this. Maybe a couple more of them under this one or something like that. Summary:
Great job so far. Keep an eye out on the web for what really makes you tick when you are a visitor on other pages. And if you don't go to Smashing Magazine, it is a great place to go when you don't know how else to take your site to the next level.
I have to tell you the icons that say what the comment type is here on Concept Feedback is messed up right now. I square out something on the image and it says it's a different comment type when I submit it. Sorry for any confusion, I hadn't noticed this before now.
Summary:
Hi Yaakov, very nice design you have, and from my point of view there are only two problems, maybe three if i count the logo. First of all you have to much information in the sidebar, specially in the Recent, Popular and Tags, trust me when i say that nobody needs 200 tags, or 10 titles in the Recent posts , reduce the number of Popular to mach mach the Categories, and the Tags to mach the Recent. The order should be Categories then Popular, Recent and Tags should go under. The second problem is the hierarchy in the Main Content area, it looks like the title and the body text are having a fight, maybe is just me and in that case you should wait for other reviews, but if other people have the same opinion than you should try to change the color of the body text to a grey, but make shore that after the change the posts are still easy to read, i think that you used to much the brown color for all your text and i think you should use it only for navigation and titles, this change will help with hierarchy and contrast. The third problem, again just my opinion, is the logo, if you want people to remember your blog a gift box as a logo is not that original. The claim suggests that is about me and what I got. But after reading the intro text I realize it is about what I could give to others.
