This is acutely my first review.
When I look at the logo I somehow don't know where i should put it, for sure its strong and edgy but I don't know if it's creative?
Try to play with the kerning and around the "I" because it's really hard to read/properly understand. Also try to add a detail, a twist, maybe play with the negative on the E.

I kind of avoided reviewing this, because I like your work generally, and whilst this isn't a bad design, it's all a bit 'meh'... (no offence - just meh)
This looks like a star wars type font, and whilst I like bold fonts this, isn't really working for you. I would suggest 'govenor' at www.losttype.com, I think that you can get really funky with a different font, and don't join them, it looks kid of weird...
Personally I think you should go for a stamp type effect...
Also there's something weird on that N, see my note...
Good Luck!
Thanks for the review Aaran, and your honesty! :)
I've honestly never been a fan of Star Wars, so I never would've made that connection.
I like the Govenor font. I'm going to use it on this WordPress theme I'm making :).
Thanks for your time!
SN: Maybe I know too much about my company/brand, but for some reason I just get drawn to this. Can't help it, just has that feeling to me ya know. Oh well, sit back and enjoy this Photoshop lol.
Hi Jamal - I really like it, and I don't see the I as being a T.
What if you you switched the lettering to MEIN for Mastering Eclectic Intelligent Notions, that way you could put the spin on the German spelling of Mine? Just a thought.
I don't know enough on typography to offer any further critique, but I know I like it :-)
Rebecca
Thanks Rebecca!
I actually built the name of the company/organization around the word mien. The word is defined as a person's look or manner, indicating their character or mood. So by the definition of the word, and the words I used in my name, describes the company's mood/attitude :)
Thanks again

gotcha ...
Hi Jamal,
Overall this is a nice bold wordmark - but it did remind me a bit of 80s Kraftwerk album art, which did make me think of the German word Mein, which made me think you misspelled Mien. I really do like the definition of the word you actually were intending to build from, maybe you could inject one little unexpected piece of something, a little red dot somewhere, something small and unexpected - to give it a bit more of a distinctive look and feel. I don't literally think it needs to be a red dot, all I meant by that is it just needs something a bit extra "you" so it doesn't look so 80s German electronica. Actually, I'm curious - why did you decide to go against your natural design style when making an identity for your own company?
Thanks Stefanie! I'm a 90s baby, so anything dealing with the 80s(and early 90s really) I have no recollection of :) lol. I'll look into something to give it more of a distinctive look.
I wanted to go against my natural design style because I never really have, the MIEN brand better suits a bold wordmark logo, adn I never really have. As a designer, I feel like I should always challenge myself to better my own abilities.
Besides that, it seems like everywhere I turn now everyone is doing curvy and loopy logos. Makes me feel less original, lol. I also wanted something completely different of my current FAI logo.
Thanks again :)
Yeah, I was born in 1983 so really I have no business knowing who Kraftwerk is either, they weren't exactly contemporary to "my time" - friends with a love of retro electronica are to blame ;).
I think it's great to always challenge yourself to learn and grow - it helps your style to evolve to be even more "you" I think. Looking forward to your next iteration!
It sort of reminds me of the Linkin Park logo. It looks a little too much like MTEN. Flows nicely though.
Thank you for taking the time to review. I think if knew how I intend to go about my company then you would appreciate the design more.
Really Linkin Park? Lol, I have all their albums on my Google Music account. As many times as I've seen the logo, I never would of got that connection. It is interesting, can you explain?
Thanks for the review, and in case nobody has already. Welcome to the community :)
Oh and you should remember that what you put into the review of someone else, is what you will get for your own concepts here. :)
Yes, this: http://images.wikia.com/lyricwiki/images/e/ef/LinkinPark-MinutesTo_Midnight.jpg :-)
Thanks for the tips and welcome! This is certainly an interesting website - way more interactive than I had expected.
I still don't see it man, and I've played that album and seen the cover a lot of times. Maybe in the font weight, but I don't see the design aspect.
Oh and no prob, hope the community is great to you! Yeah, we really get into our concepts and reviews here
Oh make sure to take time and see the reviews of other reviewers here. Especially ones on the top, we really take a lot of time in our reviews.

Lacks creativityI understand that you are going for a simple logo. However, I dont understand how it represents your target market at all. I think that you should niche your target market so you can tailor your logo towards its needs,
| Critical Problem | |
It reads as MTENYour logo is not legible.
| Minor Problem | |
"M"Secondly why not go for a more ORIGNAL 'M'.
| Positive Feature | |
'I' or 'T'when someone looks at logo for the 1st time no one would be there to tell them it says 'MIEN', To me it looked like MTEN. . . Since TEN (10) is a more familiar word, at 1st sight it would be recognized as MTEN And yeah it was my 1st review :P :)
Hi Davor, nice first review. Glad to see you become an active part of the community. But let me first tell you that you just can't give one category rating, you have to give them all one.
Okay, my main thing was to make this logo bold and make and make an impact. Which is against my natural design style, I normally go more playful and curvy.
Thanks for your input, and I hope to see you more in the community.
