| 1 | ok, I like that you added some CTA buttons, however I think they should be the same size for consistency. Either make this one smaller or the other one bigger. |
| 2 | when someone clicks on one of these links what part of the content n the page is going to change?
|
| 3 | is this a sub navigation for the home link? or will this area of navigation be global throughout all the pages?
|
| 4 | this image doesn't really bring anything to the page. I would lose it unless you feel it brings value.
|
| 5 | add some nice bullets to these

Hi Lisa - Technically, there really isn't anything wrong with your concept. However, if you were 65-70 years of age or older, would you find this site:
As mentioned by other reviews:
the font type must be large and easy to read
have a CTA smack dab in the middle of the page.
You have to grab this particular audience immediately, or they will give up all together and flip through the yellow pages or something just as ancient to find what they are looking for. They want simple and easy.
I've attached a generic mockup instead of adding notes.... Hope this helps.
Hi Lisa - I think the newest version is an improvement, but I still think you can do better. The only real changes I see are the CTA buttons and some new images. It's an improvement, but I just think you need to stretch a little more. :-)
please see my notes...
Good review!
Hi Rebecca,
Thank you very much for your example. It will definitely help me. I will make sure that the font size is bigger.
I appreciate you taking the time. This is very useful.
Lisa
Hi Lisa , i totally agree with Rebecca on this one (by the way great review Rebecca) and here is something to help you out http://boagworld.com/books/ check out " Increase your ecommerce sales by 10,000%" (the video in the same page).
Thanks David,
I like the boagworld site. I read their articles all the time. I will check it out!
DAVID! The video you suggested is wonderful! Thank you very much!
i just reviewed newest concept...
What do you think of the font sizes? Are they big enough?
I think the font sizes are ok.
Thanks for taking a look at the new version. Appreciate your feedback.
I like the colors. I think the site needs a stronger call to action. If the goal is to get someone to call or email, it needs to say that at the end of the summary paragraph near the photo.
Really great review Rebecca!

| 1 | There is too much text in here, it is kind of boring for visitors , i suggest you to write headlines , the company's key features maybe or services |
| 2 | I didn't like this much , if you take the blue background out and keep only the green tab wouldn't it be better? |
| New Idea on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | What if you move this part to the top to make it more visible , generally people (leads) like to see testimonials first |
Hi lisa, To increase conversions for the company i suggest you to show your visitors the company's benefits at a glance and give visitors the ability to quickly get in touch (make an action). Why dont you use a sliding banner on the top part instead of the text ? Or a quick contact form to let visitors write questions or request info right a way. The color palette is nice i like it the design as well is overall nice :) Good luck
Hi Marwen,
Thank you for the suggestions. I think they all make sense. They only have a few pictures to work with so I won't be able to add a slider, but I like the idea of adding a contact form right up front.
They had someone create the content up front, but I will see what I can do about minimizing it at least on the main page. I agree that an "at a glance" synopsis would probably work best.
Thanks so much for your input!
Lisa

| 1 | The contact info is not obvious enough. |
| 2 | This might be a little too word-heavy |
| Positive Feature | |
Nice colorsColors are nice and clean.
| New Idea on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | Shouldn't this be up top? |
Hi Fanny,
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
For the contact information, I agree that it is not obvious enough. Do you have a suggestion of how to make it more obvious?
You're right...Marwen Jegham also suggested it. Your other idea may work. Maybe I could move the "Why choose Ann Arbor PPA?" up to replace the very wordy section.
| New Idea | |
| Definitely agree with the earlier reviewer, though I would say that this site might not be meant for the elderly as much as those responsible for their care. That said, the site is text heavy and could use bigger and more colorful images. I would move the contact information to the lower center, clean up the copy with a bit bigger text, less of it, and more headlines. Also, the left menu is a bit too 'heavy' and has so many options that, along with the top menu bar, do more to confuse than to inform. Instead of having that information be within a menu, try finding ways to fit it into the page, creating a more dynamic experience with text, pictures, and links to deeper content. Also, in this industry, 'testimonials' is absolutely key. People want to know that their family members will be taken care of. Make that a much more central element of the website! | |
Hi Drew,
Thanks for your suggestions. When you say move the contact information to the lower center, do you mean where the "What we do" section is, or somewhere else?
Thanks,
Lisa
Exactly, and if you do away with some of that text and increase the size, I definitely think that would be a much better location that will catch a user's eye!
Good luck!

AccessibilityI agree with the other review. I really like the layout, but it should be simplified for the elderly with more obvious navigation and larger font. For example, you have redundant contact info/buttons in multiple areas. You could easily consolidate the design to make things less cluttered, easier to navigate and put more focus on the important things.
| |
Call to action? This is similar to the other note, but add a primary call to action. A big button to apply/request more information/contact form, etc. Clear and simple, what do you want me to do? This will help with conversions.
| |
| Serious Problem | |
Site StructureThe site structure needs word and could be consolidated. For example, do all of those options on the left sidebar of the home page need to be there? Initial impressions: -Why a donations button? Are you a non-profit? If so, clarify. Is your bottom line hurting? -Why is the mailing list link here? Is it that important? Maybe make it a widget in the bottom sidebar. -Why are FAQ, Glossary, Links, Forms and Logs, Advocacy, etc. on the main sidebar? Maybe put this in a resources section.

| New Idea | |
Social NetworkingI understand that the target population is the elderly/disabled, but that doesn't mean that their kids or other young folks won't refer them. I suggest creating a free Twitter/Facebook page with the info from your About/Contact page. It can't hurt.
| |
All in all I like the design as a start, but things can be simplified and consolidated. A revision of the site structure will also help your SEO and indexing. I don't know much about the industry, but I assume trust is huge. You might want to consider making testimonials more of a centerpiece.
| Minor Problem | |
| Lisa, I think you have so much text to prove your advantage. I'd stress here benefits to elderly, with much larger fonts, different color and in bullets. Instead of "What we do" you can say "what you get".
If this is the first page, I would like to see something there for me, if I am an elder person and need care, so the picture is good. However you can show several pictures. People will see themselves in different situations.
Highlighht call to action for me. Make it obvious. Do you want me to CONTACT you? Ask you question? View a video?
Testimonial section -> make it small, maybe show just one and take people to a separte page to read.
"Why Choose..." is another proving your greatness point. I wouldn't leave it next to testimonials. Too much inforcement, I think.
| Minor Problem on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | Could use more line height and it seems a little cramped here. |
| 2 | Could maybe use some useful quick link in the top here. |
| 3 | Seems tight here; add more spacing for breathing room |
| 4 | Add a more utilitarian footer here, like quick links, FAQs, etc... |
| Minor Problem on ppA-layout-v2.jpg | |
| 1 | Text links not centered vertically in the lines above and below. |
| 2 | Too close to the photo circles above |
| Minor Problem on ppA-interior.jpg | |
| 1 | Add better contrast here...line height could be more for radability. |
| Serious Problem on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | THis is text needs more line height to make more readable. Since people in general like to ready as less as possible on the web I would have less text also here, and use some good call to action buttons, like FInd out More or Get Assistance Now. |
| Positive Feature on ppA-layout-v2.jpg | |
| 1 | This area seems jumbled; it doesn't flow well. Maybe move the social media icons somewhere else, and maybe make the photos smaller or something. |
THe design has nice colors and in general has a good layout but could use some tweaking for usability for people with disability and elderly people.
The design needs more contrast behind the text area since disabled people will be going to this site. And you might want to bump up the default text size a little for readability.
Valid points thanks.
| Minor Problem on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | The header spacing looks uneven, there needs to be more space between the logo and the header text. Also the header area looks very squashed, could look more appealing with increased margins on top and bottom. |
| 2 | Another spacing issue, have you tried even spacing on the top and bottom of this heading? perhaps decrease the height of the container so that it appears central. |
| Serious Problem on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | The phone number is quite small, consider increasing size for more emphasis as a CTA. |
| 2 | The text used throughout the body is quite small, is the target audience older or disabled persons? consider increased size for useablity, dont assume your users are using zoom features or increased browser font sizes. |
I really like this design, the overall feel suits the organisation.
Thanks David, The layout you looked at was the first iteration. Some of these things were changed on the second and third. But, I still see your point on the logo. Thanks
| Minor Problem on ppA-layout-v2.jpg | |
| 1 | I feel this area is too prominent. Follow the rule of thirds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds |
| Positive Feature on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | Chunking - you have organised your information well. However, I would put the "what we do" section in a separate page.
|
| New Idea on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | Maybe think about creating a logo design which is more striking, yet simple.
|
| 2 | Perhaps you could further your hierarchy of information by including a H2 and H3 section in body copy. This will make it easier for bots to read semantic information, which means the website will rank more highly. |
| New Idea on ppA-interior.jpg | |
| 1 | Try centering this information. At the moment it seems odd aligned to the left. |
This website needs a little more tweaking. It seems you have a solid concept though. And a good direction to move forward with. Good luck with the next iteration of your design! I hope my comments give you some solid direction.
Thanks Joel.
The font size might be too small for older persons to read. Also, a bit wordy. The photo on the site looks homemade - you want something to evoke feelings of caring, respect, competence. Who is your market? Is it the invalid individuals themselves or their children who want someone to care for their aging parents? Think about a Call To Action somewhere on the page. Do you want visitors to call you? Make the telephone number more prominent if so.
| Critical Problem on ppA-layout.jpg | |
| 1 | hurts my eyes to see this text crashing the walls.. |
| 2 | Need some spacing to let the content breath .. |
| 3 | No air.. too crowded |
Overall spacing seems to be obvious issues.. feels unbalanced with overuse of text that could be better placed to let some air flow in the design.. mostly on the top area.. bottom seems like there's too much spacing though.. overall dislike the use of the blue color.. feel it needs more polishing up..
i like the layout. Its clearn, easy to navigate with nothing really fancy which could make it difficult for the more 'senior' people of the population.
I think the testimonials is good as it gives people more satisfaction that they are choosing the correct provider.
Thanks Tim

| 1 | I liked the colors you choosed. :) |
ok
