I'm a little confused your illustration is awesome but the overall look of your site is crap, you have the illustration then 3 columns, then 4 and then 3 again!
The design is dated and the background is irrelevant at this stage… The logo is nice but not great and not memorable… Overall a really un rememberable site…
IMHO you should start again, with a pen and some paper and use the interweb and see what's trending, because you may lose customers and opposed to getting them…
Good Luck!
Re-reading my review I realize I may of come across a bit of a smart arse, so please note that I meant no disrespect…
Oh, none taken. Thanks for the candid feedback!
hmm agreed araan!
Hello, You need a lot of work on the design, it's true, but it's not a bad start! The overall look is a bit old for this, think of the different screen sizes: - The gray stripe containing the logo could be the width (width = 100%) - Forget the rounded corners, it is not pretty. - Do not put pattern background, this is old-fashioned - Footer can also take the full width of the screen.
For the contents, you must balance. - Choose a number of columns, or, if you want to do a line with four columns and a second with three columns, add space, add pictures, do the alignments. - Police of your content is too compacted, add a line-height. - Choose a different font for titles, different content. - You have to style your menu, center, with a rollover effect, with an attractive font that could recall the comic mood of your header ...
Hope to have you helped
Thanks! I have held on to that pattern for too long! :) good ideas, will take them into consideration.
| Minor Problem on concept1-bluepattern.png | |
| 1 | Kill the coverflow portfolio in your nice drawing. |
| Serious Problem on concept2-gray.png | |
| 1 | Like your none rounded conners, try to make less contrast between content and bg |

Your vector drawings rocksIf you can create a blog/website where it's fun to navigate/spend time then your website will have great potential. | |
| New Idea on concept1-bluepattern.png | |
| 1 | Try play with making the footer similar to the header. |
| New Idea on concept2-gray.png | |
| 1 | Consider using a css framework to make your content align in grids. |
| 2 | Work with fonts that fits the rest of the website. |
Great idea, but needs a lot of work.
thanks for the feedback. I need to scrap concept 1 and focus on concept 2

| Menu should be centered, to match the centered logo. | |
| Typography could use some major work. Looks like you kind of just picked helvetica and didn't do much with it. You may want to use a custom font to go along with the feeling your header gives, instead of the bland, generic helvetica styling (or at least give it bigger line height and smaller text). | |
| You need a more subtle background as well. In most circumstances you never want to create that much contrast between background and content...especially considering that you have the exciting header image that jumps suddenly into some generic red diamond pattern. | |
| Try looking into 960.gs | |
Needs a lot of work.
thank you for posting. i had not made font choices yet, i believe I was just focusing on the wrong thing. i'm going to heed your advice on the centered nav menu and the more subtle background.
Thanks for the feedback. I should have also stated that this is mostly still unstyled, and not ready. For example, I haven't even made decisions on the nav bar, footer, or content areas. I believe you're right though, I am going to blow it up and start again.
