bumpy gthe descender on the g in bugs is disjointed, doesn't flow nicely. I'd suggest you smooth out the transition from font to worm.
| Critical Problem | |
worms don't have antennaethe first o has antennae on it. this makes it cute, and maybe more appealing to children, but doesn't stay true to the focus on worms. removing the antennae might be a good idea.
| New Idea | |
arrange actual worms ??!why not get some worms, and spell out your logo with them? shoot a bunch of photos.. and then edit together the best. then trace and create vectors.. the bottom of the lower case g is on the right track. i think the whole name should follow that womy style :)
from your description, I get the idea that this is primarily about worms. but the name itself leads us to believe that there are all sorts of bugs in this project. and the o with the antennae support that idea. if this is only about worms.. i would focus the visual cues onto that idea. as it is now, "Little workers" should scoot down and left to sit more comfortably in that space. I do hope you come up with a version of this made of all wormy looking letters!
its so important to do all the research and to use reference photos. it helps the work look more thoughtful and impressive! it would take awhile too.. to get worms to sit still in the perfect position that you arrange them in. that dedication and patience is what would make this thing come out amazingly... you could even make sure to arrange them exactly on a proper font.
the version you had there i'm sure worked just fine. it looks positive and fun. these here are just some suggestions. i hope they help you :)
here's a nice 100% worm letter: e [link text][1]

i did read your description.. which is why i said "primarily about worms" When i look up "micro-organismes" to try and see what that means, i see another language or a spell suggestion of: micro-organism. That is not my area of expertise what-so-ever but i dont think antennae'd bugs are micro organisms.. maybe i need to read this book :) to me the "ears" on the logo look a little too cutesy and more like a logo for all kinds of bugs. like a children's bug museum exhibit.
it could look professional and be 100% worms in my opinion. but it would take a significant amount of dedication like i said. (Forming them almost perfectly to outline a professional font.) might not be worth it to you if the project is over and done with already.
O now I understand better what you meant, sorry, It looks a lot lie bug ears (above ground) and not organism in the ground, I see that now. Thanks for advice, will experiment and post, love to redo some old stuff just to learn and hopefully improve.

excellent review Miranda!
I'm a composter and it speaks to me very clearly. I don't see what you may have done wrong, but then I'm not a designer, just an end user. I think you did a great job.
I have been learning from my designer pals here on CF so perhaps I'd suggest some sort of treatment to the words "good" and 'little workers' to tie them together more. Not knowing what that would be, I end my critique there.

Kid FriendlyI think children would be attraced to this fun font.
| Minor Problem on Goodbugs.jpg | |
| 1 | This bend looks a little messy could you get a more natural curve |
| 2 | The background looks a little grey? not sure if it is supposed to. |

| 1 | Love this detail - really looks like a worm |
| 2 | Love this |
| 3 | like the mix of two colours ... gives a feel of the garden and the earth. |

Hard to comment to much because I really like it ... just sort out the g a bit and you pretty much have perfection (:

AntennaI'm not such a fan of the antennas being, i think they could have a bit of work done on them.
| Positive Feature | |
Good colour schemeColours complement each other really well.
| Positive Feature | |
| I simply love it. Great colors, nice fonts and good concept | |
| Minor Problem | |
G bendThe descender of the G seems to have a sharp bend where you have added the worm. Something small that needs to be adressed
| Positive Feature | |
ColoursWork perfectly together. Good job on this!

EarsMaybe blend the ears into the O more (make it green and have it sprouting from the O?
It's a nice playful design that communicates well.Apart from the minor errors it's a good logo
Hello Hendra,
I do like it too. The little antennas on the first o aren't great and if the logo is smaller, you won't see them. The main font and the colors are really nice. The text little workers could use some work though. If you change the font (try a non serif one, very simple and common like Helvetica), put it a little lower and maybe without the caps, it would work better.

| the tail of the g is not very smooth, maybe the S would have worked better as a worm | |
| Positive Feature | |
| nice color choice | |
| New Idea | |
| maybe the subtext should have been a bit bigger | |
The antlers coming out of the first 'o' detract from the design in my opinion. The wording 'little workers' should start from under the 'G' and end where it currently ends, so adding space between the letters (adding kerning). Also the 'g' in bugs swings out to the right, this may work better swinging out to the left as this is would make it easier to read but still include the graphical element.

antennasnot so sure about the antennas being brown, maybe try another colour.
| Positive Feature | |
coloursthe colours complement each other perfectly.
The logo was also used not only for the worm farm but for their book about earthworms (little workers) making compost, and the thousands of micro-organismes (goodbugs) in the vermicompost.
In this description I stated that they wrote a book about worm farming and all the good bugs found in the compost that the worms make. Sorry if this was not clear. So the o's "ears" has its rightful place.
Thanks for great feedback, have tried the worm photo reference, but the client wanted the word more professional and thus I opted for using it with only one letter.
