Right now there is not much of a specific style that would deem memorable.
The colors work for me but if you want something more memorable I’d explore further and experiment a little. I’ve always liked the idea of old radios and stereos and musicboxx sounds like it could be retro. So many ways you can go graphically rather than sticking to the “tech” look. So theres a direction you can go in that may touch listeners in a nostalgic way.
I like the musical note in the box. I believe it would work great as an individual element. Maybe give some more detailand a specific style.
The font works for what it is. But hey, you should think about adding one more “x” and give it a sleek, sexy design. :)
As it is, it has good function and balance and is aesthetically simple and pleasing.
I can’t wait to see your progress, Robin. Nice work.
Nice choice of colours and I like the gradient, however whilst the logo is easily identifiable I'm not sure it's memorable.
It's difficult to judge without it being in page context, but I think something is missing to make the logo truly stand out. The note is very similar to the itunes icon. Perhaps a retro look would be more suitable?
Overall I like the idea, but there's something missing which I can't quite put my finger on.
I think I know exactly what you mean. It seems to be missing a wow factor. but it is the first draft, definitely room for improvement!! When I post the revision I'll let you know. thanks for the review :)

Change the fontThe font looks a bit fat and clumsy, I would change this to a font like Helvetica Neue or Gotham. This helps to make the logo more professional.
Other shapeLove the idea of the 'o', but I'd change it to a circle or a box.
Dear Robin,
Great idea, but I'd suggest to change the font to for example Helvetica Neue or Gotham or so and I would make the 'o' a circle or a box (since the title is MusicBox) instead of the current shape. Hope this helps!
Kind regards,
Leon Interant Media
Thanks for the review. Changing the font is a definite consideration that I am making. Changing the 'o' to anything other than a cube would defeat the point. The site is called musicboxx and therefore having the 'o' as a cube makes it easy for users to get the concept without seeing the 'o' in the context of the rest of the logo. Seems that I am heading in the right direction with this as the general consensus is in line with what I tried to achieve.
Thanks a lot for your time :)

GradientI think that the gradient that goes through the middle could be eliminated.
| Serious Problem on musicboxx-logo5.jpg | |
| 1 | the music note is just a regular music note in the middle of a letter could maybe make it more creative in integrating the music not |
| Positive Feature | |
colorI really like the white and blue look
not a bad logo but I think it could use a little more work and thought so that it will be something that stands out more. maybe even stack your letters in a box? try a logo that looks boxy just some thoughts :)
Music Boxx
| Serious Problem | |
| I like the music note in the 'O'. It might serve as a stand-alone logo | |
| Positive Feature | |
| I like the idea to separate music and boxx with 2 colors. It makes it easy to read. | |
| Other | |
| Maybe the colors are a bit too dark, and it makes the logo 'serious' | |
i didn't like the font because it contains many rounded corners ,try a different font with sharper corners
| New Idea on musicboxx-logo5.jpg | |
| 1 | how about bigger? Lots? Try it and see how big you can get it. You've got an icon here --- use it. |
| Other on musicboxx-logo5.jpg | |
| 1 | Look into typefaces. This one is a little... soft around the edges? Round around the corners? It makes me wonder what brand you're going for: strong, slick, cool, bad-ass? Or easygoing, friendly, informal? This typeface is more the latter; the shiny effect you've put on it is more the former. |
This is nice work, but I can't help but feel that you've got a few more iterations to go through before you've got a final.
I think what bothered me about the typeface is that you've got a nice, sharp hexagon for the box (with music in it -- love the concept -- keep it, it's the strongest thing here)... and the letters you've picked are a little rounded at the corners. Conflict of similarity. "If it's different, make it clearly different." But I think you want your corners sharp, match the box.
But the notes-in-a-box makes a nice icon. Push it. How big can you make that box icon before it totally and completely unbalances the letters? 1.5x? 2x? 3x? Try it, just to see.
Good luck.

TypefaceI'd agree with some comments previously that the font isn't quite there. Looks imbalanced to me between the M and U, and the C in relation to the B and S. Character spacing needs balancing also. I'd be inclined to try without the floater above the i. Have a play with letter heights or possibly substituting the font out for one a millimetre or so thinner.
| Positive Feature | |
HuesI'd like to see this in a number of different hue combinations to give better feedback but for me silver / blue is a very generic Web 2.0 combination. That gives you a problem with uniqueness and memorability. Happy to comment on a range of schemes.
StrategyCan't comment sufficiently on strategy without knowing the intended associations you are after. However generally I'd say 2x's works better than 1 or 3, I'd look at capitalising the B to trade off the iTunes mould. The gradient isn't terrible but doesn't work naturally with the width and weight of the letters.
Robin,
Hope this helps,
Feedback above.
Please don't hesitate to ping me a message if you develop second generation and would like additional feedback.
Cheers John

| Really good logo. Makes me wish I could come up with ideas like this | |
thanks for the positive and constructive feedback. Not sure about adding another x as that would make it xxx? Could have other connotations that I would not want to associate with site!!! The cube with the musical notes inside were designed that way to be a standalone item, so I am glad that you mentioned that, lets me know I'm heading in the right direction.
Thanks a lot! Will let you know when the next revision is released.
