Positive Feature Design of website
I like the texture and depth of the gray background, the taped on pieces. Though I would limit the tape effect to the top piece only. I like the 'Big change through small payments' header and I assume the pun was intended. At any rate, it works on that level too! I love the punches of color and think you have used them well for calls to action, testimonials.New Idea Messaging
The imagery at the top doesn't really help me understand Flattr. Is it a 'before and after' that you're after? I get the symbols of the heart, dollar sign and fist, but the whole graphic kind of misses the mark - or at least forces more examination than a visitor may be willing to give. Is the messaging really about eliminating the middleman? Do people care or even realize that there is a middleman? Also, I think the message of 'there are great reasons to belive that forcing people to pay is outdated' is subliminal that people shouldn't have to pay. How about turning it around slightly, like 'paying voluntarily is the best way to show your love and support'. And I have to say I really don't like the middleman image. First, the skull is too creepy. And his arms up in the top version - Is he a scary boogie man? Or is he cheering, which makes no sense. And again, I'm not sure if eliminating the middleman is your revolution. That was the revolution of the internet. Yours may be getting people to financially support the content they have become accustomed to getting for free.Copywriting
I think what little copy there is mostly is effective. I think the blocks that are now all the way at the bottom of get paid...., support.... and join.... are really what Flattr is about and quckly and effectively explain what you do. So I would promote them higher on the page.-
Summary:
The heart, dollar sign, crowd, and other silhouettes are great. The radial sunray pattern and is also a nice touch. It wasn't until I scanned down to Click, reward... subheading to see what Flattr is about. Even then, I had to read the paragraph underneath to understand fully. Once I got it, I looked at your header area and didn't really still get the use of the artwork there to convey your message. I don't like the use of tape. Maybe it's the texture?
Overall you've got the pieces, you just need to get them together in a more cohesive way.
Minor Problem on 15-flattr-15-concept2.jpg 1 hehe, mouse is single click - device. So what, i click on it every damn day ;) My point is, that single click is a myth, (have to register, have to go to page, have to click, have to install sth or not etc. ). 2 again no real message. I didnt check video, i guess you explain a lot there. Yet on this page, in fold, you dont write anything what would identify clearly your goals , features or benefits. Ok i know that money and love is in play ;) 3 nice try, but not this time:) I mean button and placement is interesting and i like it, but i still dont feel like registering. Dont have a reason. 4 its hard to read for me, yellow is to strong 5 if header was for those 3 pictures - it was waste of space. Pictures are clear, you hate, you destroy, lenin...or stalin? Serious Problem on 15-flattr-15-concept2.jpg 1 I read h1, then second part. It explained a bit, but in general , even that i like play of words in it, doesnt carry the message. Only message is love and money...strange connection, which doesnt put nice thoughts in my mind when watching this Positive Feature on 15-flattr-15-concept2.jpg 1 I like layout on this part 2 I like this elements layout 3 good visibility, but again , why is it here? what purpose it has? 4 This is what should be in top. i had similar project going on 3 years ago, its very good idea after those years i think. Of course it depends on your business goals and how is your payment flow working in real life :) But this is different matter. Check notes, good luck.
