| 1 | this header tells me immediately what i need to know which is a big plus. But its important real estate + your taking up alot of space. U might benefit from spending more time on the design here. Im not sure about the font variations ... |
Hi Andrew,
Three things come to mind for me: 1. given the goal of this site is to sell your services as a web + brand designer. I feel i need to see far more proof of your work. 2.Think about your brand - what are its characteristics and core drivers? You might consider injecting more of that into your interface so its more enticing. 3. Its nice to see an interesting / different design. but needs work.
Ok, re point 1, A nice interface gives me some indication on your style - but really, as a potential client what i really care about is what you've done for other clients - How good a job did you do for them? This gives me understanding of the quality you will deliver me if i hire you. Your current latest work section not enough.
Given you have such a unique and fresh design paradigm going here, you have great opportunity to reveal, remove content / portfolio items in a manner that really adds to your theme.
Idea re points 1 and 2 above - perhaps incorporate a beautiful, hand crafted open portfolio book into the design, with some subtle 3d so its stands out, and really fits snugly into the scene like your logo section. In this book you might reveal your folio items. (note - id make a real feature of your work - make it the focal point) This would do two things - A. give clients a firm understanding of what you can do for them. B. give more visual interest to the site. At the mo its just a bit bland - nothing really jumps out and grabs me.
Also, given your essentially selling your creativity here - this concept lends itself to using the whole pencil / paper as a creative / design process idea. Not sure how you might incorporate that... but be good to illustrate to potential clients that your ideas come from a really raw / creative base. (sketches on paper) Maybe this is an animation or transition effect...
All the best, be keen to see how your site evolves:)

| 1 | Just doesn't make sense, If this is a sticky note, why is it taped and folded? You should try a ripped piece a paper. |
| 2 | If taped down, give it a reason why it would be. It's a flat photo. give it some depth |
| Serious Problem on actualportfolio.jpg | |
| 1 | I don't think these things should be so big. Establish an hierarchy based on what's important and not only on the homepage but also the whole site. |
| 2 | Left-align |
| Critical Problem on actualportfolio.jpg | |
| 1 | I think you should really use a grid, especially when having 3 columns. Also, I think it will clean it up a little.
Also, i'd use left align all the headers. Down here it doesn't seem organized. |
| 2 | I don't think this adds value. You already stated that you are a web and identity designer in the "Hi, My name is..." heading. |
| Positive Feature | |
Interesting impressionHi Andrew, i have got an impression that you can provide interesting ideas. Also i should say that it is simple to find everything one can need in this only home page, there is no need to browse more...
| Minor Problem | |
| I don't get the tape (conceptually). What is the bottom one holding in? Why is the top sticky note taped to paper? | |
| Serious Problem | |
Too many typefaces, sizes, etc.I think you're mixing too many typefaces, type sizes, and strengths (bold). I've seen this sort of eclectic mix work before, but in this case I don't think it is. It's confusing.
| Positive Feature | |
| The header makes it very clear what this site is all about. | |
River this s a very indepth review and it's nice to see the time you took to write it. Great Work!
Andrew, I agree with River's observations and I think that once you understand your story it will show through in the design, it's always the hardest thing to design your own siteā¦
Good Luck!
