Maybe it's the light outlines around inactive pages. Maybe remove them, or try giving the inside a slight background to give it some added depth. I think any/all would look good and would allow more customization. Summary:
Overall, I like the design. It's clean, simple and smooth. The color scheme works and you make good use of typography and white-space.
I'm not really sure how the whole template thing works, so you may already have or not need to address these, but I have a few concerns about expandability.
- What happens if they don't have a flickr? Are there other options to put in that area? Recent blog posts, or something to that extent could work there.
- Will it be a problem if their logo is too tall to fit in the header allotted?
- I assume the links/pages are customizable, but if not you could probably generalize them a bit more. Pages and Features I'm not sure would fit globally as well as others could.

The font that is used in the tagline - it needs to stand out more!
Have some more space around the Connect With Us section - especially where the dotted separator is.
Think about breaking up the background a bit with some darker textured background areas - e.g. background behind the images or a different coloured background for the footer.

As far as I have seen on themeforest, the point is to offer as many options as possible hence the theme will attract a greater audience. This is just one of the home page layouts, others include static text, a slider or a single image.
