| Minor Problem on pensalegon layout.jpg | |
| 1 | Flush the logo left and the search right with the bar below it |
| 2 | The gold color works well as a spot color on the site, so continue to use it as such. Make these buttons gold, but use a different background color for the box (maybe a slightly darker gray). This box throws the balance off a bit. |
| 3 | The size of this (and all columns) should line up with the columns in the main content area, or they should differ greatly. It's too close, but not the same to work here. |
| 4 | Make the gray background extend all the way to the top. No real need to separate these, as the imagery does it already. |
| 5 | Careful with your vertical alignment again here. Headers appear to be above the images. |
| 6 | Get rid of these vertical rules. They don't add anything (you can see this in the section below) and are just visually distracting. |
| New Idea on pensalegon layout.jpg | |
| 1 | Move this section up to line up with other sections. I would probably flip it with the subscription section as well. |
| 2 | The photo gallery would probably look better without the gray box. |
| 3 | It's possible you already have this planned, but I would do breadcrumbs in this area. It is a content rich site, and you don't want users to get lost. Main headings for the pages can be placed in the main content area below. No header is really necessary for the home page aside from this. |
| Other on pensalegon layout.jpg | |
| 1 | This image looks a bit out of place to me. It may just be the alignment of it. Either re-size it to match the text to its right, or possibly try putting it elsewhere on the page. |
The current design is atrocious, so you certainly had plenty of room to improve it! That being said, it's not just better than the old site, it looks pretty good.
Overall I think the you do a good job of reaching your identified goal (retention and engagement). The content is good for that (Events, Videos, Personality, Polls).
Check out the notes for some suggestions.

Your Layout well design to draw in that repeating visitors also it keep the user longer on the page. Your Color scheme used was use very well throw out your design.
Good design and great layout. You present a lot of information, but the way it is arranged it isn’t overwhelming which does a lot for the user. I have a couple of suggestions suggestions. Consider a lighter color for the outside/sides, it seems a bit dark for a religious website that would want to convey levity or happiness. Also, I understand the need for advertisements, but maybe limit your ads to something that applies to the theme of the website or something that sends a different message than something purely commercial. I didn’t see it on there, but as a religious website it may be helpful to add a donate button. A donate button may even bring in more than the ads do. Who goes to a church website to click on ads? I see your Facebook page, but it would also be good to add Twitter. Website posts can automatically post on Facebook/Twitter. Hope this helps.
would be much better
Have to agree about ads. This is kind of a weird site to use ads. Not sure I agree about the background, I think the dark bg works okay on this site.
You have made a 100% percent improvement over the old layout. The content is organized in a very readable manner. The only thing that I would look at is how far your important content is being pushed down. You may wind up with a lot of your information being pushed below the fold.
