The first one is really nice and strong, It sometimes looks an eagle eye though. I think you need to play around more on the the type, In my opinion the type used is kinda generic and boring. get a little more thick font.

Minor Problem on SketchesStepRnd2-Zoom.jpg 1 Placement of eye seems off. It is not balanced but doesn't seem to be in purpose. 2 The type overall seems kind of boring. I'm not suggesting using comic sans but an original san serif would do the work look at fontsquirel for some ideas Serious Problem on SketchesStepRnd1.jpg 1 None of this are very intersting. I would suggest you to refine one idea better than to show so many unrefined. It would be easier for client to decide Critical Problem on SketchesStepRnd2.jpg 1 Totally unreadable at small sizes, remember that your main audience is going to be people with eye sight problems. Summary:
It is a hard trade off between something that is good and something that the client wants and sometimes whatever is in the middle is what works best. Unfortunately, I feel that the designs you have right now are not working very well, except for maybe the eye with a lot of refinement. Please view my exact comments.

Thanks so much, you're right on all counts. I know there is way too much type for the eye charts to be a logo; I should never have mocked that one up, cause the client loves it, and lets face it, its not readable at 4" let alone 40 pixels. So I am trying to swing back around with something more simple and iconic and less literal.
The business is actually risk id insurance, not optometry, which although the pun is there, is mis leading, where we think this might be a medical profession.

Critical Problem Slogan design
Slogan design is really poor. Green letters are distracting and breaks the harmony. Try to use only one color for slogan text and logo seems more attractive and balanced ;)Positive Feature Eye
Usage of eye is really great idea. Human is programmed to look other people or animal eyes. Eyes always attract us. Logo on the black background works really well.Summary:
I like the concept. Usage of eye is great idea! Logo on black background works wells.
Samples on white background are not attractive.

Summary:
This looks to me like a terminally sidetracked brief. While the green/black design is seriously eye-catching (excuse the pun) and beautifully drawn, it's completely off target for this business. The eye seems to me an inappropriate theme for a business insurance firm. Altho' great for a private investigator!
Even the tagline is misleading. It doesn't say "insurance" to me. Maybe Eliminate Your Risk, but that's perhaps too plain. Either way, the EYE initials are simply an accident and contribute nothing to the business proposition. I suggest a complete rethink and drop all reference to EYEs, eye charts and exposure.

Positive Feature on Logo-Comps07.jpg 1 Lines make me think of fingerprints--great for focusing on the element of potential client's individual, personal exposure. 2 Like the reflection. New Idea on Logo-Comps07.jpg 1 Ditto the idea of placing this with no spaces, how about bolding or coloring "YOUR" to mimic the reflection element of EYE?
It is generic and boring - absolutely right. I am smitten with sans serif fonts and need to explore more options. I like the eagle -eye you mentioned, might play into this. Thanks!!
