| This dark line down the right hand edge feels unbalanced and adds unnecessary visual distraction. I'd drop these edge off and all the others more into shadow to get around this problem. | |
This is so good. Love it. One of the best concepts I've seen on CF.
I immediately got the reference and it's executed really well.
The only thing which bothers me is the vertical dark line created down the right hand side by the board components.
Obviously to remove these my first response of a solution was blow up the entire image slightly to crop these out but then I realized of course that the dark components on the left would then be unbalanced.
I had a few ideas to resolve the issue but the best I think would be to increase the spotlight effect and drop off the edges into dark more. The absolut campaign does this a lot so it would look even more in keeping with the campaign idea and get around the dark line down the right edge which detracts from the focal point in the middle.
Overall I love it though. Really cool work.
Hope this helps and you don't hate me.
There you go Emma. Thanks for the great feedback.
I preferred the old version, it was more obvious what it was. Too much darkness for me now, and it's no longer immediately clear. Still fantastic though!
For me this is now genius. There is plenty enough visual information to tell what it is supposed to be but it's simplified down to it's total pure message without any visual clutter distracting from that message.
For me it was too busy before and that dark line down the right edge - once you see it, it's really annoying.
It totally looks like an Absolut Campaign. Brilliant.
Wow Emma, it was tough for me to point that.
I really loved the idea. I think you did a great job brining the essence of this vodka. It is finished.
If you have spare time, I will play with the idea of including the letters on the top instead than on the bottom, but right there also looks good.
If you want to make it a little more interesting you could add references to absolut in some of the chips and the board itself. Keep the attention in the main ad, just for the nerds that will be looking more into it.
Thanks!
The Absolut Vodka campaign always has the letters on the bottom. Don't agree to try with the letters on the top. Here is link to all the Absolut campaign posters: http://bit.ly/h2ngo7
Love this, although I do hope that Intel don't take offence :)
They probably will ;). Thanks Aaran!
BTW Aaran, when did you become such a CF Master Blaster?? ;). You deserve it dude!
CF Master Blaster? I guess I don't have anyone that really needs me to do any real work?! Or is it just because I am passionate about helping people? Nah....
LOOOL! But trust me, being a good critic is a tough job.
I don't think I'm a good critic, probably just that I have to have a say on everything, I have noticed though that my design has gotten a lot more pixel perfect, since giving reviews on people's designs...
Oh ya, this is the effect of being on CF ... thats why am here and probably our other friends too!! Thats a great point you said Aaran, it indeed helps.

RepostOk so my first post didn't appear because given the NEWB that i am... i didn't click SAVE NOTE and the whole darn thing disappeared. Dammit. Anyways, as I was saying, love this to pieces. Just that I do see an opportunity here to improve this bit by going more into the fine details. E.g. those fine alpha numeric codes surrounding the main chip... i reckon you could convert those to like ingredients or chemical names/codes that goes into making an absolut. That way it'd give some kinda insider joke or info which will hopefully get those folks with an attention or eye for detail hoked up more closer and appreciate the finer piece of this already fine ass work.
U've just made nerds a little more cooler.
alright. for some reason my post didn't appear. what's going on here people?!?!?!
wow. my first award. yay!!! i'm a happy chappie :) :)
Ha ha ha
I loved it man!
Cool concept! Anyway, without it do you think all these would have been possible, no wayyyyy!
Excellent. But as Aaran said, you got to watch out for the sponsors of tomorrow! ;-)
cheers
Prashant
Thank you!

| 1 | While this is a hilariously cool iteration of this now classic campaign and is very, very well executed Absolute's ads are rarely so obvious. They make you work a little. You have to be more clever..the idea is "hidden in plain view" For example: One might see Central Park New York and not even see the bottle shape at first but then ones sees it and for a moment thinks..hey Central Park is shaped like a bottle.....a Vodka bottle!.....an Absolute vodka bottle!!!!.....wow!!!! ..........oh..wait this is and ad......for Absolute.....ooohhh.....this is not real..... See how it is supposed to work? so it would be much more effective if the shape emerged for example from a conglomeration of chips instead of being an obvious very large chip. Or if those conductive lines flowed into the shape of a bottle and towards a normal sized chip at the heart of it all and that chip has imprinted "vodka inside" very very small. |
I love it!
Central Park? Really? http://www.centralpark.com/guide/maps/poster-maps.html

Only for NerdsI think this Poster is only compatible for a small group of consumers. If this poster will be used on Tech-Conferences thats nice, at other ocasions there might be a problem, some people might not understand the ad.

Hi, I wrote in the definition this is 1 poster of a saga, one of each will be pointing to different concepts try to relate different kind of people. Thanks anyway for your comment.
| Minor Problem | |
| I think that the chip is too "zoomed" in and it creates a bit of confusion between chip size and the actual bottle size. A bit unnatural perspective if you will. | |
Cool idea but as has been said, I think it's a little too blatant compared to the existing ad's.
Maybe the computer case as the bottle within in an office environment??
You could take it a step further and replace the circuit and wire lettering with the ingredients for a unique Absolute Nerd concoction or maybe a web URL that you own with the ingredients listed...

| Technically, I think you would need to either drop the "inside" since Intel no longer includes that in the logo. If you want to keep it, then both words "vodka inside" should be inside the circle, and you should use the older-style circle (which looked more like someone circled the words in pen and didn't join the ends of the circle on the top). | |
I really like this, although the vodka inside logo has a minor issue (see note).
Hey Emma, that's a really sharp eye! I think you are right increasing the spotlight fx. Thanks a bunch!
