Minor Problem on smg.jpg 1 This is my least favourite just because of the balance of the elements together. Also it doesn't seem half as unique and developed as your other ideas. 2 This is equal least favourite. The balance feels a bit better in the typography but the idea is not as strong. Positive Feature on IMG_2412.JPG 1 Like the making of the quotation mark into some kind of creature although not with the crown on. Crown doesn't say guru to me. Positive Feature on smg.jpg 1 As a logo this is my favourite in many ways. It's unique, the typography has been really pushed and developed into the crown shape. The only problem with this is that I think the crown direction is not the right direction to go for 'guru' 2 Not keen on the 's m g' in the middle section of this and again the crown feels wrong. Summary:
Wow Aaran. There are some really cool ideas here and some nice design work.
As a logo number three is my favourite as it's not just looking the way it does to look pretty but it totally makes sense and it's visually strong. The only problem is that it uses the crown idea and really I think crown does not say 'guru'.
My favourite parts of your sketches are the idea of using quotation marks as a means of communicating social media.
There is one sketch where you start to develop one into a little character. This is the direction I would try to explore of making a social media type logo/character out of the quotation marks. Maybe try to work your typography into a quotation mark shape more.
Overall really nice work so far though. Maybe see what other people think about the crown. If others feel it communicates guru to them then I'd go with logo 3 but maybe pull Social Media Gurus into the black block and move the SMG crown up so it all works within the square.

I do like your sketches. I need to do more of this myself when brainstorming.
If you were to take away the label from all of these designs I'm not sure if any of them would say "social media"
Try playing with the type a bit and make one or 2 of the letters stand out and hint at the ideas of 'guru', and 'being social'

Summary:
I was more interested in your sketches, as you experimented well with the quotation mark idea. I love the fact that you have included an eye in the mark, which says to me that it has scope.
You could have a sole quotation mark for the logo, but develop it to become a character for that social business, with different things done to it.

I'm not sure if the crown element fits with the "guru" but the exclamation definately fits the theme. nice work

I like that one the most is has a goofiness and playful element that you said you wanted to add.
Emma as usual you are spot on, so onwards, it seems to me that 'guru' is definitely not a crown, so I'll work on the quotation mark becoming a character, and integrating social media guru into it... actually I just got an idea will post some more sketches soon...
