Clip ArtYou have a dove, cross, family, hymnal/bible all going on at once! Most religious websites I create don't have enough symbolize, but yours has Christianity overkill. Suggestion - remove the family and bird - Family is already stated in the title. Cross is enough.
| Serious Problem | |
Consistancy!1) Typography - Pick one. It's the basic rule. Once and a while you can break this rule, but you have mis-matched font-faces 2) Drop Shadows - Consistancy! You have a blurred black dropshadow on the book, then no drop shadow on your clipart, and grey hard-edged drop on some of your font. Decide on your distance and keep the drops consistant. 3) Colors - There's black and white... then there's rainbow... then there's two-tone... Pick one style.
Colors!Blast the rainbow. So gross! Remember with logos with color, always test in black and white. You'll quickly realize why nobody uses rainbow colors in logos.
Sorry, to say, but this doesn't fly for me. You're trying to do too much and have too many 'things' going on that it looks hap-hazard and jarring.

Old SchoolThis reminds me of: Clip Art Ye Olde Interwebs Everything that was wrong with my school board's website
OverwhlemingLike said from the lovely commenters/reviewers above this, there are ALOT of elements to this, you should really pick one to focus on

Strong MessageThere's a REALLY strong message here, and I guess that's kinda the point, so that's good!
ObviousYou'd likely know what it was for even if it didn't have the text
I think going back to the sketchbook and just letting the ideas flow would help on this one. Good luck! :)
Here is my challenge to you:
1 color
1 font
1 graphic theme (either a bible, or a cross, or a dove, or a family, or the old testament, or the new testament, but just one...)
having said that...I personally almost never succeed..I am not good at logos..but that is what I shoot for.
I second that Challenge!
Diva,
I really like the elements you use like the family and the dove. It's important because it visually illustrates that this is a family worship center.
However, do you notice how the dove and family look really different - one is more white while the other is more black. Maybe you can use the same style for both to create a better sense of unity.
Also in terms of color try using monochromatic colors - like shades of blue, let's say.
That way church goes can associate a certain color to their place of worship thanks to you!
This is probably the most literal logo I've ever seen.
Word: Bible Hope: Dove Family: Family Worship: Cross
I think you just need to add a church arching over everything for the Center part and you'll be set!
In all seriousness though... you need to pick an idea. You can convey all the emotions and feelings that you want to without having to have a separate graphic for all. Think about what is the most important aspect that you are trying to convey with it and design around it. Is it the hope? the worship? the family part? Figure out what makes this church unique and build on it. You can use the way things are laid out to convey the other feelings that you want to be a part of it.
Design-wise: The fonts work. I'd stay away from gradients unless you are a digital-only or mostly-digital company (which I don't get the impression this is). The logo is poorly balanced. It's sort of a long, narrow logo in the shape of a square.

Advice:
I've uploaded a great example of a well thought out logo. It's simple, unified - and communicates the message at a glance. Nice start!
| Minor Problem | |
Modern or TraditionalThe font looks more traditional, but the coloured bible looks modern. I don't think it works. If you're relating to people today then remove the traditional font
ItalicsItalics don't have the same punch as standard text. I'd remove the italics from the font
| Critical Problem | |
Too BusyOverall this as a logo is far too busy. You're putting too much into the logo. A simple logo will do a far better job.
| Positive Feature | |
CrossThe cross makes it pretty clear immediately that this is a church
Overall, i'd be getting a total redesign concept of the logo. Think about how this translates in size - if it's small and on a letter head it's going to be a blur.
The eye doesn't know where to start here. I disagree with the reviewer who said you can't use more than one font. That's not true in my opinion, but you've chosen fonts and clip art that work together to create a bland, uncreative impression

| 1 | The clipart is very generic and complicated. Try to keep it simpler |
| 2 | Try having this not all one line for example:
WORD OF HOPE
Family Worship Center |
| 3 | The dove here is a bit out of place |
They both have a very old feeling to them. The first ones very complicated and the second one needs to lose the rainbow bible. Also, try different typography
I totally agree, you have a cross, an open book, a peace dove and people... not to mention the typography is average...
