| Minor Problem | |
Top LinksMaybe have them not so far apart?
| Serious Problem | |
Top LeftI find it way too distracting, my attention was drawn to it before the "Conscious Living" above it
| Positive Feature | |
Top RightI do like the bit of a wrap around going on in the top right hand corner, not so much the other side.
| New Idea | |
Bringing it togetherI think it might work a little better if the "tentacles" and the title were to fit together more. Concious living is clean text with darker colours yet the tentacles seem more like they belong with a water colour header
It seems pretty cool. I do like where you were going with it and think it is a great start. I'm not sure if it's going to be strictly in a blog format or not, if there were to be some sort of landing page I think the graphics would work a lot better there. Hope this helps!

| 1 | this has artistic appeal, but is that what you want visitors to focus on? or the message of the page itself? I think the message is important. |
| Serious Problem on mindful.jpg | |
| 1 | this portion of the graphic isn't necessary. Yes it's cool, but don't base your page on it. |
| 2 | where is footer? |
| 3 | these are the most important features of the site, yet there are no Call to Action buttons!!! |
| 4 | these buttons make no sense. Think about it...."recently popular" to "most popular" to "most recent" to "most viewed". if anything, make use of this space for a big "DONATE NOW" button. |
Hello - ok, here's what I think. I can't get past the header image. It almost seems like tentacles trying to wrap and consume their way down the page. I don't get it. It's like you designed the page around the graphic. This can be a good thing if it ties the page together, but in this concept, I just don't get it.
I think the wholepage itself looks washed out and the header and just the top part of the image would look so much cooler if darker background color was used. Almost to black or very very dark blue. The highlights of white in the image would make the blue font stick out. Make sense?
Also, you need a brief tagline under or near the Logo...it's important to grab the users attention immediately and let them know what kind of site they are viewing.
Overall, I believe you have a good intentions on the site, yet it needs a lot of work. It is missing social media icons as well. A site with such a powerful message should be heard, so take advantage of social media and use to the site's advantage.
Also, I only reviewed the first concept.
Please see my notes.... Happy coding!!!
Thanks Rebecca,
I'll keep these notes in mind when redesigning it. I'll try a dark background and see how it presents.
With the call-to-actions, yeah I was planning to implement those but was hesitant to make it too graphic-heavy. If I decrease the large use of layout/UI graphics and add call to action buttons, it should work well.
As for the footer, I haven't created it yet because I would like to revise the top first then implement it based on the decisions made.
Agreed with the tagline note :D
My only question regards the buttons that you feel don't make sense. The goal of them is to allow users to filter the content on the homepage without adding clutter. Perhaps they're ambiguously written?
Thanks again
Hi Robin - IMO they're a little redundant. Maybe just have "Most Recent" and "Most Popular"
I really think the idea of the site is important and concrete, so I hope you didn't think my review was too harsh... :-)
and I look forward to seeing future revisions...
Not at all, you're absolutely right. This is why I posted it :D. Most recent and most popular would work, I'll post a revision later on or tomorrow

| 1 | Please remove this weed... I would really start to hate you page for this after few minutes spent on it... I am talking especially of these parts covering the content |
| 2 | Where s the date? Why should I use most recent when all these articles looks same, without any time information? |
| 3 | Make sure to keep RSS, Twitter and Facebook icons together... so either remove rss from here either add other icons.. |
| 4 | what do I click after entering mail adresss? |
| 5 | why this whitespace? |
| Serious Problem on mindful.jpg | |
| 1 | Really important stuff left without any visual importance... Donate and subscribe have to be outstanding... calling to action |
| 2 | To make these sorts work... article previews needs contain relative information (ratings, views, date, comments, favorites) Otherwise it is just unuseable... |
| 3 | Wait a minute! So the website is mindmill."domain"? Then there is a serious presentation problem... How am I supossed to remeber this and say outside in a bar to my friends to my friends tonight? "Dude, I cant remember what was its name but it was about conscious living...damn, really good stuff tho... " |
| Positive Feature on mindful.jpg | |
| 1 | The colored background works better than gray one... blue is favourite color for many people... |
Hey there,
the concept itself needs a lot of work yet, but i believe that it will work and look great after some revisions. Even that I have found some seriously important problems. Just follow the tips of reviewers and dont be too proud for changes. And later repost your revision... That s the way for sucess
And make sure to show footer too next time...
I have added some notes, I hope you will take advantage of them...
Good luck ;)
Thanks for all the help Martin, I've taken most of these suggestions to the latest revision.
I'll be adding facebook and twitter in the future, but keeping it to just RSS for now :)

Main home pageI might suggest a main home page to draw the reader in, like a kind of introduction saying what the website is all about, what it aims to achieve, what the reader might hope to gain from clicking on it. Once you've drawn the reader in, then draw them to the various articles - which will clearly be interesting. Then have a contact page.
| Minor Problem | |
Bold Post HeadingsThe bold post headings are not much appealing. Try using regular font and make them italic. That should enhance visual appeal.
| Positive Feature | |
Artistic appealVery good artistic appeal and seems fresh. But seems a little over done on the left hand side. Maybe reducing it to some extent will fix it.
| New Idea | |
Icons for links at topConsider using some nice icons for the links at the top of the page.
Consider using separators for linksSeparators for links within the main body of the page, should enhance visual appeal.
Fresh artistic work appears very good. But seems overdone on the left hand side. Also there is scope for further improvement as mentioned in my individual comments.
| Positive Feature | |
Not felling the main treatmentnot really loving the tentacle things other then that it looks great.
could use less illustration and focus on the content and the overall branding.
| Minor Problem on mindful.jpg | |
| 1 | I would reorder modules - and place the "about" module in the bottom position. you want your call to action modules to be seen before scrolling begins. |
| Critical Problem on mindful3.jpg | |
| 1 | too much "treatment" |
| Positive Feature on mindful.jpg | |
| 1 | Nice header |
| 2 | perfect list module |
| Positive Feature on mindful2.jpg | |
| 1 | I prefer the green background |
| New Idea on mindful.jpg | |
| 1 | Great space for a Join/Register button |
Nicely done...
Thanks Ashley
